Hip camping in Brownsville Oregon, lessons I learned about Aliner parking orientation - when you have a chance of wind gusts be sure to park with your tongue to the wind folks!

You're handling the Aliner well and picking out some great spots to enjoy it. Looked like typical Pacific Northwest weather, blue sky and relaxing rain..

Beautiful spot! Rain in the aframe can be relaxing but the wind can be nerve racking. I have had to pack up once because of wind it was a bummer.

Yes it’s good to take off regularly just to get in practice and try different scenarios. I enjoyed the video and I like walking in cemeteries too. Have you read Peter Beagle’s Fine and Private Place? You might enjoy it.

What an awesome camping spot! And beautiful views! Glad you didn't get any snow. Have you heard anything about an Aframe get together this year here in the Northwest?

Thank you, it was a great find! No, I haven’t. Most of them are back east. There are Facebook groups if you follow them, I bet you could find out if there are.

Maybe get some sort of aluminum pole that can be fit between the walls to protect the walls from caving in. I still haven't done that on mine, but will do sometime soon. My latest video from Valley of Fire shows that mod.

Two retractable shower rods should do the trick. Just throw them up when it gets windy and...remember to duck!
@ruthtrips7391

@@JofoTubin 😂 Sounds like you’re speaking from experience! I have a shower rod but the springs in those are not strong enough to support the sidewalls in high winds. And I have the shower rod fall on my head a few times 😂

Any recommendations for a late winter/early spring camping spot? Beverly Beach is still closed, and I can't find out if the Port of Newport has their facilities open yet. I know the weather will be getting better (eventually), I am just impatient to go camping. John

Hi John, did you call the Port of Newport RV park? They are open year round. You can get the number on the website. There’s also South Beach campground in Newport, I like both of those place. Good luck, I hope you get out there camping!

Your camper is the same as mine. Looks great but you really should get a wind pole to brace your side walls. It is a really easy mod and cost about $15.00 if you get the aluminum pole at HD. Well worth it for the peace of mind. And if you get 2 and put them a couple of feet apart near the peak of the A walls you can use it for shelf space which comes in very handy on long trips. Enjoy!

I know!!! I just haven’t been camping in open air like this before, usually protected by trees. Do you mean the painter poles at HD?

96 in. W White Heavy-Duty Steel Closet Rod $17.97 at HD. / Plastic Pole Sockets White $3.98. Get the ones that have a half open end on one side so you can remove it easily and quickly. I would get two because you can use it as as overhead storage but at least one is a must! @@ruthtrips7391

The only downside I see on aframe camper is strong winds and the sides. Other than that Its the perfect camper for me. Plan on getting one for retirement.

Norma if I had only purchased the $40 painters pole at Home Depot I could have used that to reinforce my sidewalks… I just haven’t done it yet! My own fault! And yes, that’s the only downside 😊

@ruthtrips7391

No mine didn’t but that’s all I could imagine as I laid there listening to the wind howl! Aliners do need windkits to prevent risk of the side walls blowing in, yes. Since this trip I have added wind poles.
