Membership trailer here- • Membership trailer 2022
• PLEASE NOTE: these are not patterns for clothes and garments included in the Membership
• Instruction sheets are a step-by-step written instruction on how I drafted this or that project, so that you can follow along. Instruction Sheets are available as a back catalogue, but there are no new Instruction sheets for projects starting with July 2022.
• The templates are ONLY for the small projects, like a basket, or coaster, or towel wrap and etc.
• I have also created sewing reference sheets and practice sheets, as well as sketches that you can use and some small-scale garment parts that you can use to practice "slash and spread" techniques and dart manipulations. Instruction sheets are focused on the drafting process and less on the sewing sequence as that is shown in the video. Sewing steps can be sometimes written out, and sometimes referenced back to the original video.

What is the priciest fabric you ever splurged on? (and why, if you'd like to share) :)

It was more than 40 years ago when I was in college, I purchased a piece of imported French lace. At the time it was about $25 a yard! Thankfully I only needed about 1/3 of a yard to make the bodice of a dress. The bottom of the dress was burgundy velvet. Was worth every penny!!!

Oh, my, I still have it from 30+ years ago. From Liberty London, a beautiful brown embroidered Indian-ish fabric for an eye-watering price (I forget how much, but I remember insanity.) I have no idea what to make with it, or even if it would look good on me. It would be quite dressy and I mostly live in muddy gardening clothes these days. So far I've only cut a strip to make a scarf. And even that I haven't finished. WHAT is my problem?

About 3 weeks ago a doctor told me that I would need to cover an ugly cut I got on my leg (from carrying downstairs the old dishwasher) during my vacation at the sea side. Because I didn't want to think of putting the beach towel over it at all times I decided to sew a cover. Basically it is a big scrunchy for my thigh. It's far from perfect but it does the job just fine. Also last week I made some baby towels for a close friend. Now I'm excited about sewing again and I have finally overcome my anxiety about sewing jersey. This weekend I'll try to make a nightgown out of some quite nice fabric that I bought a long time ago. I'm a huge victim for big fabric scraps. Like 70x150cm. Because it's cheap and I need something to practice first before going for the nice stuff. I think a nightgown will be a great practice piece. Also, I've been looking for a nightgown like the one I have in mind for over a year now and can not find anything like it, so I'm just making it the way I want it to be.

I have cutting anxiety every time I want to sew, which is why my stash never seems to get smaller. I always say I have two hobbies, buying fabric and sewing. You did another video about using fabric from the stash…that one and this one, both inspired me. So let’s get sewing. Thank you for all your videos, they are so helpful and entertaining.🥰 love the absolutely gorgeous blouse. The most expensive fabric I ever bought was hand batik fabric I bought when I lived in Asia(22 a meter), it is still here, but not for long. Thank you🤪

Great video!! I think the most expensive fabric I ever bought was £20pm Liberty jersey. I was new to sewing and messed it up!! I did later repurpose the garment for something else. I’m like you I want to pay as little as possible even though when I buy super cheap it’s a false economy. I have some paisley linen that I’m so reluctant to cut into because it’s so beautiful and good quality but it’s doing no good on the shelf.

I bought a sheer/beaded bridal fabric from Joann's fabric. It was upwards of $90.00yard and I got it when it was in the clearance section. I ended up paying 10-$20 for a half a yard. It was bought for a specific project. It was going to be a mermaid top overlay. It looked so cool.

Most I've ever spent was about $20/yd on a whimsical viscose twill from Mood. It was pink and covered in unicorns and wildlife. The final dress fulfilled all of my Miss Frizzle dreams. Definitely was like sewing cotton candy and pining feathers to air...floopy and generally a pain to sew. Next up would be some fabric I bought on sale from Spoonflower. The fabric quality there was not worth the cost, but the prints were awesome.

Eris, ooh - yes, when it fulfills your dreams - the garment comes out just so special. He he, like pining feathers to air - I totally get you! And... I have heard similar things about spoonflower. I am itching to design my own prints, but the prices for custom printed fabric can be unbearable :)

Beautiful project thanks for sharing. I’ve spent maybe $12-13 a yard. But it was because I didn’t shop around or wait for sales. I didn’t know what I know now. I’m new to sewing and until I’m more confident in my skills I will stick to single digit prices.

WOW! That is beautiful, the colors on you are perfect. I am like you in that I like to find nice fabric for under $10. I cannot think of an expensive fabric but I did travel from Northwest Florida to Austin, Texas to find a certain fabric to make my Daughter a jumpsuit, that was back in the 1990s before there was online shopping. It was white with paper dolls and a lot of pink. It was featured on the front of a pattern, I it was vintage McCalls 6967. I was so determined to find that fabric I would have paid almost anything for it. Love your videos.

Wow ! You turned that gorgeous fabric that I really had doubts about the pattern in it into a definite everyday blouse. I thought it was too formal/ fancy but you proved me SO wrong. The only thing I have ever been successful in making fit was for my children or others... never myself. I am just a normal sized woman with a larger bust so never get the shoulder/neck to fit properly and all that is after the fba ( sigh). I do love all your tutorials and have watched for a long time. Thank you. P.s. loved your daughter's dress. Brought back good memories.

Now, I wouldn't suggest this for an expensive silk, but I found that if you starch floopy fabric before you even cut it out, it is much more manageable. I tried this with georgette and it made it much less frustrating to sew! This is such a cute top and I'm glad you got to finally do something with it.

Hello, I bought in november 2022 original MERINO 100% wool fabric, and it cost me 35€ per 1 meter, and I needed 2 meters, so it cost me 70€. The purpous of buying it, was...that my husband is riding a bike very much all year around, even in winter. Which is in Slovakia can be quite coooold. So he needed something to warm him up, stay warm even if he is sweating. Great about that fabric is, you cant wash it (thats not my point :-D ) if the fabric is sweat or smell or someting... you just leave it on air and it cleans it self. So I bought that fabric and sewed him a t-shir with long sleeves and also a hat for Christmas present. So that was my most expensive fabric I ever bought. I cant think it can be more expensive in the world. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. He is very happy with it 🙂

I love that blouse/t-shirt pattern you made, I saw the video where you drafted the original pattern, and I think the flutter sleeves worked out really well. I appreciate that you showed how to create the pattern for them. It all turned out beautifully. I bought about 2.5 - 3 yards of a lovely silky type of fabric in a sort of dusty plum color for a dress pattern in the late 1980's that is still stored away . . don't remember the cost of it. I haven't done any sewing in over 20 years, my machine no longer works. My skills were best at repairs and sewing functional household items, like a baby swing seat, using the original torn seat as a pattern.

It's gorgeous, Alisa! 😍 Those sleeves are a triumph! I am sure you will enjoy wearing it. I think the most I have ever spent on fabric so far was £20 per metre, on some beautiful wool worsted for a pair of trousers for the winter. It was a lot easier to work with than your silk georgette, I must say! But I do understand the pressure we put on ourselves, having spent more than usual on the fabric, to do it justice... Thanks for sharing your stunning make with us all 🙏
