The day after winning the ITU race in San Diego in April of 2013, the Olympic gold medalist - and the best triathlete in the world - Alistair Brownlee and I sat down for a Q&A in front of a huge Tri Club of San Diego audience. This young man is very special.

"it's the memory, not the object (speaking about medals and the worry of losing them)"....that's the killer quote in this interview. What an impressive guy.

Many thanks for posting this interview from 3 1/2 years ago. I thought it was superbly conducted. Alistair referred to the 2016 Rio Olympics which ended just today. He didn't know back then that he and his brother were destined to give us a masterly demonstration of this sport. I also would love to see any interview you did with Xavier Gomez. He is equally articulate and a multiple ITU champion. I feel so sorry that Xavier's recent injury prevented him from having another tilt at Olympic gold.

Only a third of the way through this interview but had to break off to congratulate the interviewer. I'm a professional journalist so I know what I'm talking about when I say that this guy was amazing at how he approached his subject. He was friendly, inviting, informed, asked all the right questions....and got some incredible content. Congratulations. This is a model interview.

its really interesting to hear, that failing actually made him pushing so hard and motivated him to get better.... thats what you hear from a lot of pros that actually the failing is what made them great
