The International Criminal Court (ICC), established in 2002, seeks to hold to account those guilty of some of the world’s worst crimes.
Supporters say it deters would-be war criminals, bolsters the rule of law, and offers justice to victims of atrocities.
But it has only had 11 successful convictions in nearly a quarter of a century, having spent nearly $2bn. The United States, China, and Russia are not its members, and many African governments say its prosecutions single out Africa.
Now, as the world waits to see if the ICC will issue arrest warrants for the leaders of Israel and Hamas, we ask whether the court is fit for purpose.

It would be a joke to say the International Criminal Court (ICC) is independent. They have investigated many cases in Africa and sent suspects to prison, but they have not arrested the main culprits behind the scenes - Western countries that support them. The ICC has never issued a case against French troops for their war crimes and involvement in Africa, despite France being a neighboring country of the Netherlands. They dropped cases against British nationals involved in war crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq, citing that their own country was investigating, but all were found innocent. In contrast, the ICC hastily issued a warrant against the Russian President and Children's Rights Commissioner without conducting a thorough investigation, relying solely on Ukraine's claims.

UK has blocked the Arrest Warrants for Gallantsky and Netanjansky and the ICC has let the UK file this blocking (question of jurisdiction of ICC on Palestine Territory).

Palestinian killed 38 thousand, injured 87 thousand, amputation 32 thousand, missing children 21 thousand, unaccounted under the rubbles over 10 thousand. Palestinian in the occupation prisons over 20 thousand and in Gaza 2.6 million the occupation open prison. Palestinian home destroyed for 2.0 million now homeless and schools destroyed for 620 thousand.

The reason why the ICC has not done anything to help Palestinians is because they are not part of the 124 countries that are part of the State Parties of the International Criminal Court. Example: Putin has not been held accountable by the ICC is because Russia is not part of those 124 countries. It specifically says it in their website under Enforcement of Sentence: -- Sentences are served in countries that have agreed to enforce ICC sentences. Has Palestine ever agreed on the rules created by the ICC? NO. Are they a member of the 124 countries? NO.

Like many courts around the world, the ICC struggles, and too often fails, to hold the most powerful to account. That isn't to say that when it does work, that those outcomes aren't important for the victims of such crimes.

The ICC is fit for justice but it is the United States and United Kingdom that prevent it from doing their job. The US and the UK protect Western Caucasian leaders. The world needs to act to boycott, sanction, and divest from US and UK. Support Chinese companies and attend universities in countries that do not do business with US and UK. A BDS movement is needed to teach the US and UK a lesson about justice.

ICC is not "fit" or "not-fit", it is sharpen against very specific (anti-West) cases. So, it can only cut a predefined set of countries and persons. Funny, but there are many ICC staff members from this predefined set.
