Algerian resistance fighters wrote heartfelt letters home in the 1950s. Few arrived but many remained unseen, until now.
Algeria lived under French colonial rule for 132 years, from 1830 to 1962. Letters and correspondence provided evidence of Algeria’s long struggle to end French colonial rule in the 1950s. They enabled resistance fighters to send news to their families back home. Also, they offered a means for Algeria's nationalist political party, the FLN or National Liberation Front, to communicate secretly with its people on the ground.
In 2011, historian Malika El Korso discovered a handwritten letter in a French archive. In it, written by 19-year-old Hassiba Ben Bouali while she was in the Algerian resistance, the young fighter expresses her love for her family, her unyielding determination to free her homeland and the pain of separation from her family. Three weeks later, Hassiba was killed in the Battle of Algiers.
A soldier, Colonel Lotfi, sent a farewell letter to his wife two weeks before he was killed in a fierce battle and Ahmed Zabana wrote to his parents only a few hours before he was executed by guillotine.
The film Letters of Love, Letters of War uncovers long-hidden secrets and moving personal testimonies of men and women who fought for Algerian independence in the 1950s.

@@muazzamshaikh2049lol the France had large debts to the Algeria as they asked them for support during European blockade and protection from pirates, Algeria did provide protection but the France didn't pay the fee and always came up with excuses to pay later so the debts became too large with no clear intentions of them paying so when the Frances visit Al-Dai Hussein castle on Eid, he bought up the debts and requested the French Consul Pierre Duval to pay up but he got an Inappropriate response to his high state from the France witch made him swing his fan in rage and kick them out of his castle, the France didn't like that they got a response equals to their so they twisted the facts and claims that they weren't rude to Al-Dai Hussein and he slapped French Consul Pierre Duval with his fan unprovoked and used that lie to gain the European support in declaring war on Algeria, and that becomes historical know as "the fan incident"

At least the French had managed to build a modern developed country in a mere 132 years and from nothing. Algerian towns and cities were gems of the Mediterranean. Now, everything is crumbling and falling down and buried under hips on hips of rubbish and garbage. It took only a few years for the oppressive and corrupt regime to transform a rich country into Venezuela. Why doesn't allahuakbar help them? You must be living on the seventh cloud of cuckoo land. 😂😂😂😂😂

I love how many of the videos +15 mins often include a summery of the history of that country/conflict or story, at the start before they bring people on the show to speak. The presenters also seem to care about the story. The video quality and production is also through the roof.

My grandfather was a freedom fighter he was called terrorist he left everything because of justice and freedom for his people. We will never forget and indeed never forgive . Still hoping to see our sisters brothers in Palestine who are fighting for their independence free with their own country from the river to the sea.

Algeria is the oldest state of North Africa, within 2500 years old since the kingdom of Numidia. Algeria has always been the land of the martyrs in North Africa
