I don't automatically associate bsides with not as good. Especially with alkaline trio. Remains and Scraps we're both bsides records and we're both fuckin amazing

Broken Wing and Sun Burns are the best songs from both the EP and My Shame is True

Pocket Knife and Balanced on a Shelf are my favorites from those recording session, but it doesn't really matter to me that they're not in the actual album, 'cause they still were released and the trio doesn't think of them as cut out songs.

I'm with Dan when my band is about to make music we'll round up 10-14 songs and put them in an order making sure theres equal songs between both singers and we'll make sure that some of the songs aren't gonna be bad or rushed. It's time consuming, but in the end it sounds great. And the songs we don't use get turned into random Acoustic songs.

You can also buy the deluxe editions of the album for a few dollars more and get all the songs on the same album.

Like Matt said on the video, the songs are as good as the songs on the album, but they weren't fitting the theme of the album

I hate that Kick Rocks and These Lungs didn't make it into "This Addiction" but in this case I think it was the right way to go.

Its very frustrating to hear this. Dan has been writing better songs for quite some time now. The songs souds a lot like they should've been on a solo record and I very much hope to hear another solo record from Dan soon. With that said I do understand the decision regarding the theme. Its a shame though because Broken Wing is by far and away the best song from those recording sessions.

Good spot with the body language.. I think 'Balanced on a Shelf' is one of their bests as of late... I think it comes down to what Matt wants though.. look at Crimson - 3 b-sides (We can never break up, Dont say you wont & Buried) , all Dan, all brilliant. ps. its 'Burned Is the House' ;)

I think Matt used most of his best songs on the Matt Skiba and the Sekrets album last year. I really like My Shame but I think I like the Sekrets album even more.

Is it just me or is there visible tension about this subject. As soon as the question is asked Derek looks right at Dan. After Matt answers the question Dan chimes in and mentions that "three of the four songs on the EP are mine" Reminds me of the great song, "Burning the House" which also was Dan's and did not make Agony and Ivory. Not that it matters, just curious. Really like My Shame is True.

I think it has more to do with output. dan has been releasing a lot of stuff (good music btw) and I haven't really heard a lot of their new records but they always try to be fair with like number of songs each. bottom line dan had way more songs to contribute than matt. im digging the record tho gonna find the b-sides
