Hi Dr B and Parham...thanks for the info. I have been legally prescribed xanx for 15 years while I was primary caregiver for my mother who had dementia and my father who was blind and a stroke victim. NEVER did I ever have a clue that getting off them would be such a living nightmare. This is truly horrible. I can't sleep I've lost 30 pounds and see no end in sight. Thank you for being there for so many of us who are going through this. I have spent many sleepless nights with you two. It helps to know that I am not alone.

try taking magnesium. stress depletes magnesium faster than it would normally be depleted, and most people are deficent in the first place. it wont fix withdrawal, but it works well to mildly increase GABA and it also inhibits the NMDA glutamate receptor... when you are in benzo withdrawal, your glutamate levels will be way too high. magnesium also reduces the risk of excitotoxicity which is brain damage from excess glutamate that happens during abrupt benzo withdrawal (dont worry too much about excitotoxicity if you are slowly tapering off, this mainly happens if you stop too fast) also, if you are having tons of anxiety you probably sweat a lot. its important to replenish other electrolytes besides magnesium as well

You both are amazing. I truly believe that if you know better once you’ve gone through anxiety experiences during a child once you become a parent you should give your child your all. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks bcz a lot of my childhood and I always swore that once I had children I wouldn’t continue the same things I went through but make sure my children felt safe and know I was always there and give them the security they needed.

I was 19 and moving into my first apartment and for the first time on my own. I started to feel like I was going to pass out like I was going to fall thru the floor of my new apartment. When I was driving I could talk myself to stop. Then at work I had one and it’s so scary cause u think your dying I worked at a hospital and had doctors around me but I did go to my pcp and this was 1994 1995 what he did was give me atarax for the dizziness and then Xanax. As you both mentioned “why” was the dizziness happening Fast forward I’m 48 and weening myself off of klonopin but this is showing that my anxiety isn’t controlled. I now believe it’s something i was born with or the 29 yrs of benzos. I also had my parents divorce when I was 11. Lots of fighting growing up.

In my case and many women suffer from hormonal imbalances and (PMS, PMDD, perimenopause) These are the symptoms from lack of progesterone and estrogen. I don’t agree with HRT, for me it didn’t work but may work for someone else. I don’t want any drugs in me because they harmed me more when I actually didn’t need them and some quack doctors almost killed me. I am getting tremendously help to regulate my adrenal glands to help produce my estrogen and progesterone hormones from a Australian cream named “ Anna’s wild yam cream”. They sell it in USA as well. Please don’t trust the ones that say wild yam helps. It’s not the same and you are wasting your money. Had to be the Australian original product.

I was prescribed antidepressants for peri menopausal depression. The antidepressants caused overwhelming anxiety. The more anxiety I felt the higher the dosage of antidepressants we’re prescribed. UCLA finally found the root of my anxiety-antidepressants. Exercise, magnesium and a radical change in my lifestyle (job and marriage) helped to manage the menopausal depression.

So I've had high blood pressure all my life. Now my blood pressure is really low when resting, I think, because of benzo withdrawal. I'm just worried because when I was in ICU they diagnosed it as heart infection and now I'm told it wasn't a proper diagnosis. I've been through 15 years of being told I could have everything from lupus or Wilson's disease to depression anxiety disorders. I'm confused and concerned.

in my case i quit tramadol which is an opioid pain killer because it turned on me. i was dealing with heavy anxiety in between doses. i quit several weeks ago but the anxiety is still with me and sometimes for an entire day. it's terrible. i'm taking anti anxiety meds and i'm getting mixed results. what can i do about this? pretty sure it's PAWS i'm having to deal with.

Tramadol is a terrible drug and it almost cost me my life when I accidentally overdosed on it because it wasn’t working for my pain. It’s an opioid but completely synthetic, which in my view makes it more dangerous than the traditional opioids. Prior to my almost dying I noticed I was getting very dizzy and just feeling very ill when I would forget to take it. Definitely consult a doctor about this one. If your anti anxiety drug is a longer acting one that might be ideal, but I’m just speaking from experience, not as a physician.

@@kimmysplayhouse .. thank you so much for reaching out. Xanax is a horrible drug, because of the short half life. Originally, I was on Xanax, and doctors gave me no warning that it drastically changes the brain, quickly !! In less than two weeks on Xanax my brain was physically dependent. After 3 months straight in Xanax a BAD doctor did not taper me off. Cold Turkey me, and I had seizures. Almost dying. He put me in the hospital on very dangerous drugs - antipsychotics!! Very very toxic drugs. I have permanent damage from the antipsychotics, called Tardive Dyskinesia . Eventually a doctor put me on Klonopin, which seemed to help me sleep. That was my major problem- horrendous insomnia. 29 years later, here I am,, dependent on Klonopin. So, can I ask you precisely how did your mother ween off Xanax ?? Could you provide the details ?? Did she reduce by a certain % every month ?? How did she measure out the tapering ?? Did she mix it water ??? Milk ?? Did she suffer a lot during the two years of taper ?? What were her symtoms during the taper ?? How does she feel now ??? Please provide thorough details. Greatly appreciated !! B

What do you do if you have had anxiety problems all your life, and none of the professionals around you are aware of stressors to your mother during pregnancy already having you wired to have anxiety? My mother was chronically stressed in pregnancy and went into labor with me four months early due to a bodily injury. We both almost died. I have *never* encountered a signal medical doctor or therapist who thought this was a relevant issue as to why I’ve been experiencing anxiety problems my entire life. Never. They also don’t care to educate themselves. I could tell them about you guys, Dr. B and Parham, and what you guys know, but they would have no interest. Sorry I missed the live session. I would have asked then.
