Hi Khyla, loved your Video! I am from India I will just graduate in 2 months (commerce). I am thinking of going to a cosmetology school as I think this is my passion but there are no good cosmetology schools here. so is it worth coming all the way from India to join Aveda Institute. Also are there any pre requisite to get admission?

Hi!!! I really liked Aveda but I think all esthetic schools prettt much teach you the basics and prepare you to pass your state boards so I don’t necessarily think they differ that much! There are no pre reqs outside of basically putting down a down payment! I wish you the best in your journey!!💕

Hello! I visited the Royal Oak campus in 2018 and relocated out of state. Now I want to get back in the industry and do PMU & be an Esthetician. TFS your journey I’ll definitely be watching your other videos. ♥️ #iSUBSCRIBED #FormerManicurist #BackinMichigan

Were you able to get any financial aid for your class? I'm touring in November at the royal oak campus. I can't find too much information on how much tuition is and how much the kit costs?
@khylaj
@khylaj 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I was able to, so the kit we got was around $1K and you have to pay half of that up front if I’m remember correctly. The full tuition ended up being a little under $15K in total. Hope that helps!

In Royal Oak Michigan Aveda is charging about 11 to $12,000. Pell Grant if I'm not mistaken May Now cover up to five to a Max of six I don't think it'll be $6,000 covered that's if you qualify for the maximum in Pell grants. To each his own I say if you going to pay for aesthetics I can see it being 10,000. If I pay $15,000 I'm going to cosmetology school where I get everything sure it might take me 10 months in michigan. But you cover far more and you're not limited to just skincare. I'm not hating because I've been a licensed manicure is 30 years so I'm due to go back to get the instructors license. Nevertheless I advise everybody to take up a second skill in beauty so you have more than one skill to offer to really make yourself marketable. Especially since Michigan the pandemic numbers are going back up and they're already past 85 to 9,000 every 2 days. ☢️☣️⚠️☠️👎🏼 It's all in what you like if you in Michigan check with other schools that might be a little cheaper than aveda.. 😎🤦🏻‍♀️🤧🥴👎🏼🥰🍁

Did you learn dermaplanning or microdermabrasion at Aveda? What was the curriculum there? I’m trying to decide what school to go to 💕
@khylaj
@khylaj 2 жыл бұрын
I did not unfortunately, I did not learn any of that until I got my first job. But I have heard since I’ve graduated that they were planning on getting a hydra facial machine to start teaching with so I am not sure if those things are a part of the program now. I hope that helps♥️

There should be programs near your school or your area that offers those extra classes just gotta make sure they’re legit. The aveda school I’m going to offers extra lash classes but I think that’s new for them

So you can be a medical esthetician without being a nurse? I’m a nurse and the only reason why I’m going to esthetician school is because i thought I had to be state certified 😭 Btw love your video very informational

Lol I live in Michigan so basically a medical esthetician just means I work understand a doctor the only thing I can’t do is like Botox or filler and everything I do is under his medical license. I couldn’t open my own place and do half the things I do at the dermatology office because I wouldn’t be under a doctor anymore. I hope that makes some kind of sense lol. In your case if you’re already a nurse I’m sure you could get in at a Derm office or plastic surgery office and they will just train you on everything.

It’s not true you have to do cosmetology before esthetician is it? Like if I wanted to be an esthetician I could just pick that over cosmetology?

It is October 20th 2021 have you passed your state board exam. I hope you do an updated video. Have you thought about going back and getting the instructors license since that's where the money is really going to be at. For the long haul. And I understand that you love Aveda in Royal Oak is beautiful location they have one in Canton as well. I think being out of Michigan I think David Presley by far down the street would have been a better match you could have saved an extra $5,000 since they only charge 10,500 and even less Free academy right down the street as well so you have three beauty schools all within walking distance of each other so that's a good thing to know. Royal Oak 🥰🎊🎉🌟🤦🏻‍♀️😎 is a beautiful city that I've lived in before and I love it. But I wish you wonderful success take your time study well definitely go back and get your instructors license that's where you're guaranteed real money starts. I've been a licensed manicure is 30 years. lost my passion for it and looking to get back at some point in time.

Yes I passed!! I took the practical portion in August and passed! I am now working in a derm office!! I agree with you that is probably where the money is lol. I think I want to go on my own and possibly open my own studio one day, I dont know we will see!!! Thank you so much for the well wishes!

@@khylaj keep up the wonderful good work I'm very proud of you do a video let people know that you have passed and what it was like for your state board. Was you able to take your practical at crossroads in Southfield that's not too far from the old Northland mall. In some states they've been giving people the opportunity to do it viral so I like it if you could do a video and let people know whether you got to do your practical viral or not. My greatest advice to you as a licensed manicures for 30 years is to go back and take up at least one other field in the beauty feel to really give you double the income whether it is manicuring, hair braiding, cosmetology or barbering.. if you do go back to cosmetology then you would only have to do 1385 clock hours as opposed to $1,500 because you coming in as a license esthetician which is a win-win situation. But the choice is yours just remember you can take up more that allows you to do that even if you can find electrolysis which would really be even better they don't offer the training in Michigan but you can find other states that do. But let us know. 🎉🎊😇🤔😎👌🏼💯‼️
