Thank you for this video. Learnt a lot about diamond. Diamond is an incredible form of carbon, but it can be burnt under extreme conditions to carbon dioxide, and gone forever. Gold on the other hand can be dissolved under certain conditions, but it is easy to get it back as Gold.

The pleasure is all ours. That's amazing, isn't it? 😎 When the temperature is high enough (in the presence of oxygen), diamond can indeed combust to form CO2 instead of transforming into graphite. As for gold, a noble metal, it is relatively easy to recover. 🙂

When white light shines on a diamond, some is reflected and the rest enters the gem. Through selective absorption, the diamond absorbs certain wavelengths while transmitting others to the viewer's eye. If little or no color is absorbed, the diamond appears colorless/ white. Complete absorption of spectrum results in black. The color we perceive in diamond is a combination of selectively absorbed hues versus those that successfully transmit to the viewer’s eye. The level of absorption is also determined by the presence of nitrogen (or other impurities), and hence the diamond's color. Nitrogen, the most common non-carbon atom found in diamonds, causes colors like yellow, orange, and brown.
