Greetings, Elena, from San Antonio, Texas. I love your detailed tutorial. Question: @22:42 of your video, I would love to know more about how did you create that particular hat block? I see an awesome new design and nothing like it. 🤩 How did you shape the dip in the front? I'm an aspiring milliner starting from close to scratch and learning from watching videos such as yours. Thank you!

Hi Claudia, My apologies for a delayed reply. Thank you for your comment, I an happy to hear you enjoying my hat making video tutorials 😊 Blocking is a vast subject and very much depends what material you are blocking and what type of shape. There are many different techniques and various steps to follow. Basics are - stiffening, stretching, steaming, securing on a hat block. If you wish to learn the basics of blocking I would highly recommend to take atleast a short course to understand how to manipulate and handle the fabric, what steps to follow, what tools you might need. Blocking in general is not hard but has a lot of technical steps. I am happy to offer you a short online one day course about blocking explaining all you need to know and answering all the questions. Let me know if you might be interested and I will provide with further details. Kind regards, Elena

He’s Suzan, you need to use a special millinery stiffener to get better results. Alternatevely if non available, you can try a white pva glue slightly dissolved with water

It’s very much depends where you are located. To begin with you can start etsy/ebay etc.. searching for second hand hat blocks. You might also google local hat block makers in your area. Try checking HaTalk online magazine for suggestions, they have a lot of information about millinery. You can get 20% off subscription with my personal code “elena” at the checkout hatalk.com Hope that helps! Best, Elena

All my Thank you so much 🙏🙌👍about this info and im glad you made this video, it has taught me alot about the materials for blocking. 🧚🪄🧚‍♀️🦋🤗You are so talented to be able to design the blocks yourself, that would be hard on me to get the designs for me, im creative but not that creative, i would probably ask someone to do it for me if i need the shape to come out right😂😂
