So good to see people taking on a deaf Bullie, they are stubborn at best of times, so yeah to take one on, really is something special. I'm on my second rescue Bullie, (first one I lost to cancer at nrly 13) No deafness issues with either, but at times you would think they were deaf as a post (Unless food is involved hahahahah) A perfect little verse to describe most Bull Terriers is - A Bull Terrier, is a dog who can't hear their name being called repeatedly, but can hear a pack of chips being opened through three walls and a thunder storm.

I didn't know my Bull Terrier was deaf until he was about four month, he could hear loud noises like fireworks, but he really made up for his bad hearing by paying me a lot of attention. He learnt how to sit, fetch, high five but I struggled so much with calling him in.... A friend who trained police dogs, asked me if I had had his hearing checked, coz he noticed that I made so many hand gestures when talking to my Bully. When he then asked me to not move and just say SIT, my dog did nothing! (I had no idea that I signed!!) He lived for ten fantastic years and we communicated with our own sign languish. He was the sweetest dog ever and could play with any other dog. I trusted him completely.

I have a deaf bull terrier and literally everything they said is accurate. I love my boy. Being deaf never has phased him! Im so happy that someone else knows what ive gone through with my boy.

I found my Daisy under a bridge. After ads in the lost and found were not answered, I decided she would live with me and my 6 other dogs on a large cattle ranch. I knew nothing of this Breed, but she got along with all the dogs. Especially with my little chihuahua. Those two were inseparable. I loved her personality so much. What a clown!! And when she spun, Look out!! Dogs went flying😂🤣 I miss her dearly. I had her 5 years and she had heart and skin cancer problems that treatments couldn’t cure. My chihuahua and I miss her so much. She was AWESOME!💜💥

Hank is Great! I had an English bull terrier, wanted one my whole life. My mom got me one as a gift after one of my surgeries, I'm disabled with trigeminal neuralgia. Best dog I've ever been around. She was all white, with one brown eyebrow. My mom lived in a 55 & up mobile home park, and I was 39, old folks were afraid of her looks, she was a sweetheart just like Hank, got along with other dogs, people, etc.. went everywhere in my truck with me. But my ugly neighbors that were my best friends turned on me and saw how close we were, and poisoned her when she was 1 month shy of her 4th birthday. My heart is forever broken. I can't afford another one, and I feel like they killed my kid, I miss my Bully so much. It hurt to watch this, but it reminds me of how blessed I once was. I have the exact kennel as they have in the video, and it sits empty.... waiting for the day..........Great video, thanks for sharing!

I have been around dogs all my life (mainly Staffordshire bull terriers) so when we got our new home 7 years ago I always said to my Wife that I wanted a Bull Terrier and she (Peppa) was the first Bully we have ever owned. We bought another terrier breed afterwards (Boston) and what we found was there are no comparisons to a Bull Terrier. They have the most special personality, they are a toddler in a dog suit and I honestly mean that our life would not be the same without Peppa. She is one of a kind and we cannot pinpoint what it is, but she captures everybodys hearts who meet her. Our Son, the Mother in Law, my Dad, my wife's cousin... they where all originally weary of her and that quickly turned into obsession, they adore her like no other dog.

I knew a lady who brought her deaf Dalmatian to our park. Several people recommended that she get a vibration collar and use it to train a recall. She dismissed it as unnecessary because her dog checked in periodically, and the owner said she knew her dog's habits, knew how far it ventured, etc. That was four years ago. Two years ago, her dog ran after a ball and didn't bring it back. Kept running and running, until it finally ran onto a highway very far away. Granted, this could happen to any dog and owner, and this particular owner was too relaxed when her dog went exploring because "She always goes up to point X," but all dogs need regular recall work, especially if they are going to be off lead. Deaf dogs need different methods. If she had trained a vibe collar recall, she could have called it back before this tragedy happened. Just saying, even if you know your dog, if you find yourself getting a bit too relaxed, take a step back and assess things. Anything can happen to any dog&owner.

OMG, yes, agreed! My girl is half ABT/half pit and she's all white, Deaf, has allergies, skin problems, and has a sensitive tummy. I pay upwards of $100 a month for her meds, and also prescription food. It's been 8 years now - it's a real commitment. But she's so worth it. She does get more stubborn the older she gets as well. My mini BT Elvis went blind due to lens luxation (a hereditary disease that affects minis) but it never slowed him down. He became way more reliant on smell. We played hide-n-seek and he could find me anywhere in the house in minutes. It seemed like he could smell in stereo, as if the scent hit one nostril a few milliseconds before it hit the other, causing him to turn his head in the right direction toward me. I was beyond dismayed when I learned he went blind but he didnt mind so after a while I didnt mind either. He lived a good long life (14 yrs) and had a ton of fun adventures. Hucklebutt = gets up to speed, fishtails, hits the fridge and dents it, uses the couch as a take-off ramp, lands in his food/water bowls, busts the chair leg, rinse-lather-repeat.

Fantastic. They are very hard to find in shelters. We love ours. Best dogs ever. They just need a lot of attention when young to keep them in check.

I do the same game, you can tell people's up bringing by what they associate my Eleanor with. My favorite is "Pattons" dog.

I have a two year old rescue Bull Terrier, and honestly i agree with pretty much everything they said about Hank! My Kylo is maybe a bit more mellow and adaptable, he's a big love sponge and has been socialised very well to love every human and dog he meets. He lives with an Old English Bulldog year old bitch, an a 7 year old cat and they all get along fantastically well. All three sleep together and hang out with each other all day. It's also true that he's stubborn and will try to get his way but still decently trainable and obedient with some patience, as they said rules are sometimes open to interpretation for him hahaha. Since we had him fixed and he's gotten a bit older (we got him when he was just over a year old) he's calmed down a lot around the house but he's still a big aul baby when he gets out in the garden and he'll get bouts of "piggy madness" as we call it where he gets excited and runs and bounces around the living room in circles. Other than that he's just an extremely loving dog, not good for long walks or intense exercise since he gets tired pretty quickly, he's intense in short bursts, so sometimes he finds it hard to keep up with our other dog since she's hyper and up for anything all the time. Definitely would recommend this breed to anyone thinking about getting a family pet, they're hard to find in shelters, we got word of Kylo through his breeder cause his former owners didn't bother to change the details on his microchip before abandoning him, but it's definitely worth a look or a few calls to breeders who often would want to retire their older dogs to a loving family if you don't want to get a puppy.

Gosh everything you say is sooo applicable to our 10 year old bully Mleko (Czech for milk) - I've never known of a breed that is so true to type. Absolutely love Mleko to bits; such a personality (we refer to him as our first born). I love that I can be so physical with him (strong dog as you say) yet all he wants to do of an evening is sit ON me on the couch; all 32 kilos of him. So patient with kids and loves anyone who is prepared to say hi to him - he is very popular on his walks and always gets pats from strangers. Thanks for the video.
