I love your channel :) I'm autistic and I've always liked dolls, and finding a channel all about them ran by such an accepting and nice person is so refreshing.

Thank you for having the "uncomfortable conversation." My parents never would have even thought about bringing up these topics. I was always told to hide who I was because it wasn't "acceptable" for a boy to be feminine or like girl toys. I can even remember my siblings telling me to act more like a boy because they were embarrassed. Now I'm a grown man with a fabulous doll collection, in which the Monster High clan has come to stay. (and like you when I was younger I would have used gender neutral pronouns.)

I also know how very difficult it was to be different from everybody else. I lost my mom in my early teens, it rocked my world so hard that I didn't get back on track till my 20's. I love that you're willing to talk about the uncomfortable topics. I'm nonbinary myself (he/they) and it's been hard trying to figure myself out, even harder to express that to others. something i havent seen a lot of people point out is lagoonas skin is very slightly shimmery! theres some very subtle glitter in the plastic and its a rly good touch

Her desing really has grown on me and i can't wait to get to know her character better 💖 I wanna add that i think she has some anger issues in this gen!!!And as someone who struggles with with anger issues, and who has for her entire life, seeing my issues finally represented in my fave character no less is so healing!!!

To me, G3 went back to G1s roots. They are like the og ghouls again, they aren't splattered with crazy colors and terrible smiles. They still feel like g1, just better constructed and the animated show really shows that they are going to really focus on the story and I'm so excited for this new boot. I can't wait to see what they do next.

I always appreciate how you use these videos as a vessel to discuss complex issues. Even for dolls I have already seen a million times or would normally be disinterested in, I watch your videos just for that. Being in my 30s I fully relate to the non-binary thing, its hard when specific labels are so engrained into your language. But, I find it important to learn and change how I speak. You can't block out changes like this.

I still have to get used with these new designs but they're growing on me. About the "beautiful " argument, not only girls have those issues about thinking that they're not beautiful. Nowadays lots of boys/men feels the same way. Media tells them and shows them that to be considered beautiful they have to be muscular, fashionable, sporty, masculine and so on. And it reflects also in the everyday life, if you're not "beautiful " nobody cares about you and you're left alone 😮‍💨

Melissa, you're my favorite doll channel, but one of my favorite channels in general. It makes me so happy that you're in the world. I just turned 40 this year and I've identified as bisexual since I was a teen. It's baffled me how many terms and descriptions and "language" there is to describe things now. In some ways, it can feel frustrating to keep up and to have old terms go out of vogue. But I have found other words that fit and feel good as well - such as "queer". One thing I've realized is that you don't have to "understand" what other people identify as. You just have to respect their personhood and how they wish to be referred to. Thank you for sharing your story and being here for younger kids (and adults) to look up to. 💖

One of the reasons I never got into Monster High (apart from my parents not liking me playing with dolls to begin with and me also being "too old" at the time, although even as an adult playing with dolls I've never been as in love with them as other people) was I HATED the bodies. The super high heeled feet and ultra skinny bodies with the arched backs make me so uncomfortable that whenever I'm customizing a Monster High, I'll saw her in half and sculpt her a body I like more. So personally, I'm loving the new body types and don't think I can ever go back to the old/alumni ones

I want this doll 😭😭😭 even if she doesn't look like g1 i love the new bright colors.i like colorful things. Laguna is my favorite and I hope she gets a bigger role in the cartoon than she did in the live action. Downside she can only wear skirts or shorts, or mermaid tail cuz of the fins aren't removable like g1 had. I really like her goldfish looking piranha too. She's so cute like a littlest pet shop. I actually liked the reboot. I didn't even know it was a reboot at the time.

I think she is really cute, and I may be interested in her; however, I seem to think of her as a cousin to Lagoona because she is just so different from the original in so many ways. But adorable nonetheless :) As to what you were discussing, I am older than you are and spent my whole life wondering if I was something different than what I was taught was right. I've always been drawn a different direction that I was taught. I don't know if I will ever find out. My family is hugely strict and believes that all "variants" in sexuality are wrong and I even have a 90 yr old step parent Still talking down about this issue. It makes it Sooo hard for me, and I have actually never told anyone how I feel but my therapist. I really hope that new generations of people will find the freedom and love to live their lives as they feel best without condemnation. Bless you Sweetie

I love this video. I got very emotional hearing how little kids and even adults don’t find themselves to be beautiful. With the return of monster high I hope their message spreads. I grew up feeling like an outcast, I didn’t like dolls and I had a strange love for horror. The day I found Gen 1 basic Frankie on the shelf changed my life forever. I felt seen and heard. Everyone is beautiful. Everyone is unique. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin and if you don’t I hope one day you find that comfort 💞

You are so right about the chit chat of different people relating to Monster High. I have a student that has a hand that’s different than the rest or the average high school student. She loves Monster High for that reason.

Hello Melissa. I watched your video to hear you speak about your personal experiences and how open you have been was wonderful. You some a lot of sense in my opinion. It has also re-awakened my enthusiasm for Monster High again. I collected the original dolls but things really took a dive in the UK when G2 came out and they became harder to collect. Plus the edge really disappeared. But now, I'm so looking forward to them coming back, and hopefully the UK stores will start stocking the G3. Keep up the good work. Much respect.

I'm 33 yo [ born female] grew up in the 90s and In third grade I told my mom I didn't want to ware girl cloths any more so she bought me my back to school cloths in the boy section. I was so proud and felt so comfortable but when I got to school the whole class made a big deal out of it and teasing and saying horrible things. so much that the teacher sent me home and told my mother to make me ware appropriate clothes for a girl. Might I add it was a two peice red track suit with white stripes and a basket ball logo. It was completely appropriate. I was so broken hearted and ashamed of myself because obviously I did something wrong if the teacher was mad. But I was the victim. I'm so happy today's kids will not go trough that and have dolls to look up to. I know I'd also be they them if I was a child in this erra. I go by both now but I'm naturally nervous to say I'm non binary because of the way I was treated.

I'm just confused why the artwork is different than most of the dolls. Like Cleo is wearing pants on the artwork and in the show, but on the doll she's not? Ghoulia has completely different shoes on the artwork compared to the doll. I just want to know why the art is different, even Frankie looks different in the show than the way the doll is.

I've always loved monster high but g1&2 didn't really have a character that represented me however in g3 they gave Draculaura larger hips and thighs and that makes me feel represented in the chunky girl circle

For me it's 48 years of ingrained indoctrination by both society and the church about what's right and how the world should be. I love the beautiful rainbow of people and how different we all are. And I live that we have more and more words to identify those differences. No one should feel isolated because they feel different. We should embrace it all. Watching this whilst debating if I want her or not because we're getting closer to the g3 drop in the UK. I'm struggling because Lagoona was my favourite in G1, she wasn't pink, she was sporty, she wore black and blue hoodies and shorts and had a chill and friendly attitude that I loved. This doll conflicts me because she's still got the hoodie and shorts but they're much brighter which is not my vibe and she's pink which was the colour childhood me hated because it represented "girly" in my head which I wasn't, over the years I've opened myself up more to traditional feminine things and Bella Parker is one of my favourite Rainbow High dolls and she is pink but I'm still struggling with this Lagoona. I guess I'm finding it hard to separate the universes, and I just need to give myself more time to see them all in person. I mean I refused to give g4 mlp a chance for the longest time because I had g3 pony toys and g1 DVDs and G4 looked so wildly different I struggled to adjust but then ended up loving it. I think I'd still prefer a blue Lagoona as Draculaura is the pink one anyway or maybe even more of a green colour scheme as Cleo and Frankie are blue? I'm so conflicted but needed to get this out my system, from what I've seen of the shows she's a kind of angry which I can relate to, I think maybe I'll grow to like her overtime or maybe when I see her doll but for now I'm still unsure with this one 😅

Also I think lagoona has product in her hair cause if you wash her hair it’s lovely.

For me when I was a kid it was the uncanny x-men who mutants with different powers and from different cultures and countries. They had the message that if was okay to be you and to be different. So, I used to call myself a mutant.

I like new Lagoona (I still wish she was blue) but I am devastated that she isn’t Australian anymore. I am Australian and she was always my favourite not only because I loved mermaids, but because I saw myself in her. She was the only fabulous and fashionable Australian character that we had. I am happy that the next generation will get their own representation though, I just wish the could have made her Latina Australian. I do t have to say that even though I don’t like all the pink and rainbows, I does suit where she is now from….and kids will love it. And omg her new accent is so dreamy 😍

One thing I'm hoping for in Is more dolls with Disability's and chronic illness. I know theirs Frankie and Gillion with him being in a wheelchair is in the cartoon aswell I'm hoping Mattel and Monster High will have doll's with Feeding tube and a port o cath like me and make other special needs, disability's and chronic illness that everyday people have. I know you mommy have MS and I hope Monster High will make a doll that has MS just for you. I know Mattel and monster high can do it with this new Gen 3 of monster high. I'm very hopeful that we'll have doll's with Disability's and chronic illness

You are such a beautiful-hearted woman! I wish more people saw sexuality and gender the way you do. So many kids are so afraid to come out as who they are. I wish I had the words when I was little too to say who and what I was.

I most def had body image issues as a youth. I did everything I could to not pay attention it, every distraction possible. When monster high first came out, I was working at a toy store, and I loved the idea, monsters and stuff. Even then Frankie was my favorite. But they were just sooooo thin. And of course my brain was always going to focus on that when I saw them, so I never got into monster high. But now years later, being far more stable in my body image and gender identity, I can actually enjoy monster high for what it is. Expressing and loving your uniqueness. So G3 Frankie and Draculaura were the first additions to my MH family. Cause Frankie is TALL Like me, and Drac is THICC like me. and honestly baby Max needed them. I'm glad that you are still wanting to understand people at your age, my mother is not that much older, and she is still having a lot of difficulties.

Lagoona Blue is my first g3 MonsterHigh doll and I have mixed feelings about her. But I do like her on her own I think she is well done. I feel she is a separate character and if I think of her as such ie piranha sea monster just named lagoona blue it’s easier. I’m very excited about what MonsterHigh means and the return of MonsterHigh and the rise of g3 for everyone the young and all us adults and teenagers.

I turned 25 this year, so I am at the oldest age of gen z. I've been watching your channel for a decade now, as well as collecting and loving MH. Love that they did the research and brought back the original message. Growing up and of course now, I've have a very diverse group of friends, from ethnicity to gender/sexuality, many of my friends called them selves "mutt" because they there is so much in their mixed background. A number of friends and peers, and myself included, felt like the "other" as you explained because we didn't and don't fit the binary of gender and sexuality, still feel that now but less so than when I first came out at 17. Thank you Melissa for taking the time to care and educate yourself on these matters, and thank you, Monster High, for doing the same. If I get any of g3, it will definitely be this Lagoona.💖

11:16 I just wanna take this opportunity to say that Betta fish actually need a 5 gallon tank minimum, which is a lot bigger than most people give them. I know that a lot of people forget about them and think that they are easy to take care of, this is not really true, everyone should do proper research before getting any live animal as a pet and people need to do better by these poor fish. They are so intelligent, I have three each in their own live planted 7.5 gallon tanks, and they all have such individual personalities It’s crazy, they are some of the smartest freshwater fish! They can be taught tricks and recognize human faces!

I was more cautious about Gen 3 at first, but the dolls and the cartoon are okay so far. I do miss the goth fashion and the heels from Gen 1 though. I also got Gen 3 Cleo recently, and I have to admit that she is a very pretty doll.

I really like her redesign, I just wish the hair was styled a bit better by default but it's very fixable. Her forehead seems a bit too large with the way it's pulled back so tightly to her hairline but like I said, an easy enough fix to just take it down and adjust it to be more flattering in the same style though. It's the same mistake a lot of humans make thinking they need to show the entire forehead in full with hairstyles that show the forehead, it's an illusion to leave a bit covered slightly to frame the face more flatteringly. That all being said, I'm sure the default styling protects her scales while she's in the box so it's a blessing in disguise.

I love the dolls design. I’m happy they still kept lagoona true to her roots mostly. The sporty outfit and hair just really made me change my mind about the doll haha. She’s so cute. I think the scales on her head coulda been more I guess realistic or a more appealing pattern. That was my only gripe.

I am dealing with a child who wants gender neutral. I work at it, because I see how important it is to them. I slip up now and again and they point it out...I apologes and try better next time.

Your presentation was very enlightining and very enjoyable as always. I love what they have done with G3 monster high. There are still some quality issues ex. Lagoona`s chipping legs, but I think G1 had its issues also, glue and other things. I am not getting any younger (44 mother of toddler) and because of the toddler which keeps me at home mostly I started collecting dolls again after several years after I gave away my former barbie -dolls of the world collection 😭😭😭 . Anyway I dont have or ever had a G1 monster high because I wasn t collecting at that time. Do I regret it ? Yes. But it is what it is. So now that I have the opportunity to get some G3 girls I am not going to pass this. creeproduction & scullector never released in Greece and I am not going to spend hundrends of euros (which I dont have) in these dolls to get them from Mattel. But G3 yes ang yes.

When i was around 3 yo, in a day i always go to the bathroom because we have 2 Doors who are all mirrors ... and i go in the bathroom and left 30 secs/1 min later... mymom asked me: why you go in the bathroom all the time.. i said: because it's to see if I'm still beautiful... LOL back in the day i loved myself like i was... i even do this... look at myself to see if i find myself beautiful/cute or whatever...LOL OK its maybe not the same thing but... i have multiple disabilities and i've always be either too disabled or not disabled enough to do certain things... it's never in the middle... I always felt extra different.. I am a monster too lol and don't be sorry because i love your seriousness (okay its not a word lol but you know what i mean) and ilove your melissaness... bubble melissa who loves dolls

Hm...she is cute but i don't like the pink color, i don't like the yellowish tone in her hair, the "scales" on her forehead don't look like scales but like dots...the clothes are cute, her shoes are very pretty and her bathing suit is really adorable but i don't love her color at all. I love to see them do a original monster high bath bomb series with the pets like count fabulous from the locker set the howling hoodies that didn't release maybe even create a monster in the bath bombs in things that are too big to fit in the drain so we don't worry about losing it we are adults anyway bath bomb with a surprise inside always nice especially when super stressed maybe it is like a reward for a mental health rehab day mettle please I don't take bathtub baths often but finding a count fabulous in my foot bath would be awesome!

As a teen I identified as female and don't think I would have wanted gender neutral pronouns, but I know that 45 year old feels much more "they/them" than "she/her".

Actually.... I identify myself as an agender. And gender neutral pronouns in Englishr sounds fine and you can normally use them. But , in my native language (czech) using it is not even possible, or it sounds so weird. So in my language I am using she/her (ona/její) ... but i would like to use something gender neutral though :(

I reamaber being in school and everyone having crushes and all that stuff and not understanding why i didn't feel that way about someone. I felt like something was wrong with me and like i didn't belong. I found out a few years ago about a sexual orientation called Aromantic where you don't feel romantic feelings towards other people and now i feel a lot better about myself 😀.
