I’ve been wanting a Frydek specific care video from you. Would you make a video on moving corms from fluval to soil and how to know when they are ready? Would love to see a follow up of how they grow in Fluval and how you transition them to dirt and their success thereafter. Wish we could attend a class, with you as the teacher, and do the steps along with you. Would give some confidence and motivation to get gears in motion. The Frydek in this video is amazing, definitely leader of pterodactyl flock! I think Frydek leaves look like pterodactyl heads. Mine is struggling a bit due to the lower wintertime humidity in my home but it will be ok. I keep it in the master bath for the winter to maximize available humidity. Have a very Merry Christmas.

I recently bought a 2-pack of 500g silica Desiccant to dry out my newly mixed ‘soil’ because my coco coir was hydrated from a brick. It worked so well! I just used a layer of paper towel to keep it clean. You can microwave it to ‘recharge’ and reuse it and now I leave two in my car too to reduce condensation when it’s cold out :)

I can't ge my Frydek past two sad leaves. I just cut mine of and set them in PON to see if this does the trick. To propagate corms, I use Fluval Stratum, this stuff is miraculous but don't let it dry out.

I love the Frydek so much. Yours is super beautiful. But in my house, it's 30-31 degrees celsius. It grows bigger and bigger constantly, but the leaves sort of "melt"(not the stems). So eventually had to give away and now it's thriving with lower temperature. I really want one, especially the variegated one. 🥲 If only this could withstand 2-3 hours of direct evening sun like my other Alocasias, would've put it outdoors.

Yes i had liquid dirt for almost 2 yr and i didnt see no change and know that im using the general hydroponic 3 step that Kevin from hakuna la planta uses on his aroid all my plants are growin like crazy im sorry but i think liquid dirt dont work for me

Hi Melissa, there are more than four frydeks (2 mature ones and 2 younger ones) in my 7 inch pot. And I do believe it’s a bit root bound now. Do you think that I should separate them and repot? And happy holidays!!!

Hi Melissa, This plant is not an Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek'. This is an Alocasia micholitziana 'Maxkowskii' or 'Green Velvet'. Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek' are the variegated plants. I know that they are mislabeled everywhere I feel like we should try to give people the correct names whenever we can.
