my ears literally make my face uglier

i got this done about 7 months ago and when i first got the bandage taken off i hated my ears as they were all purple and swollen but now i love them and would recommend this surgery to anyone that doesnt like how their ears look

Im seriously considering this surgery, I've been made fun of for the way my ears poke out since I've been in elementary school.. I literally will not wear my hair up or show me ears at all..it sucks but I'd feel so much better if they were just pinned back.

No one bullies me about my ears but I always think about getting my ears pinned. I always think my ears make me look like I’m ugly and I hate it

I’m currently recovering from an otoplasty. My surgery was done by Texas children’s since I’m only 13. The surgery wasnt covered by insurance so the cost was a little less than $4000. My mom also previously had this operation which is why I decided to have my ear done too.

i have really uneven ears and i always covered them with my hair but now my school makes us put our hair up and i really want a otoplasty so bad i got consious of it when i was doing volleyball and one of the guys in the bleachers said loud ebough for me to hear that my ears were fked up so hopefully my ears get fixed lol

i am hopefully getting this surgery next year as i always wear my hair up but have been made fun of for my ears, i am a dancer so my hair is constantly slicked back and makes my ears sick out even more and i feel so self conscious. recently i have noticed peiople with this same condition in public much older than me and just think how common it actually is and you are still beautiful or handsome with opr without surgery but personally i think and hope i gain more confidence

How do they feel now, do they feel natural ? Also can you treat them like you would before you had the surger, for example can you wear sunglasses, or say just randomly fold your ear down or forward... or do you have to be conscious of them and limited to how you move them ?

Which technique did you get. It sounds like the cutting and scoring one. Or did you do the suture technique using stitches? Is it permanent your ear.

I was bullied a bit when I was a kid, I don't get bullied anymore but its always stuck in my head. They look big from the top but not too bad since I have grown up. I do want to get it done but it always makes me insecure and it sticks out!

How did you tell your friends, or how did they react when you told them/they noticed? Did the people you didn’t tell about it, notice? I’m getting this done tomorrow, and I am more scared of peoples reactions than the actual surgery. I’ve made the decision to not tell anyone. I’m just scared that they are going to judge me for ”going under the knife” at such a young age. :(

Had mine done in Uk 20 years ago performed by Anthony Erian. Only needed one ear done. I wasn’t happy with the result as my ear still stuck out more than I wanted. Mr Erian agreed to complete a second procedure at no additional cost about 6 months after the first. It wasn’t straight fwd as I was missing that piece of cartridge that helps with the fold of the ear at the top. Mr Erian recreated that fold creating a more natural look and second time round I was happy. Prior to surgery I was self conscious, I hated getting my hair cut and even kept my hair long to cover up my ears. Now I have a normal life and don’t think about it. Fortunately my daughter gets her ears from her mum :-)

I spoke to my surgeon as he showed me before and after pics most looked like they had no ears after looked like the ears where stuck to the head what I don’t want but he said that’s just due to swelling and not how they will look once they have recovered is this true?

Both ears are never they same. Before i got an Otoplasty i was wondering where to get an Otoplasty of Reduction but it seems quite expensive and the Post takes a long time... Next time i hope i get it.

I had mine corrected about 7 hours ago... I only had my left ear corrected. I’m lying in bed typing this and the local anaesthetic has worn off. I am in quite a bit of pain but I only need to wear a headband when I sleep. I can give an update soon if wanted

I've just had the surgery yesterday. Ears are purple and swollen and stick out further then they did before..eeeek. Doctor has said i do not need to wear a headband as the 'helix' was well formed so they took the "cup" out to make them sit back. I have two huge gause pads sticked behind my ears. Kind of nerve wracking because it doesn't seem possible that these painful hot purple lumps could possibly turn into something i am after. Wish me luck

Can you do a present video of your ears? I got my ears done October 2nd at a resident clinic at Northwestern Hospital of plastic surgery in Chicago. $1500 and it was local anesthesia. Its been 2 weeks and I'm already noticing my ear lobes to far out still. I let my resident surgeon know that and she said to wait 3-6 months or maybe a year to get a revision done. I still feel alot of numbness in my left ear and they feel stiff. I also feel like my left year wants to pop out again. It feels like it wants to cramp back to its original shape. Only regret I have is not doing this when I was young. I'm 49 now.

I had the same thing with one ear after my first otoplasty. One internal stich went loose. So i went to a second otoplasty with local anestesia and coreect that ear. Im still recovering buy happy about the results.

I got surgery a year and a half ago and my left ear came out horrible, like the earlobe looks curved inside. I will be having a revision later on with a different surgeon, I think I’ll need to get my earlobe removed.
