Very well explained Erika, I just got an old #925 with the toggle and wasn't sure how they work, now I do but regardless I'm replacing the whole thing with the weight system and a new Gauge too. I like that you pointed out the fact that the treads dont have to be totally sunk in so people dont strip them from twisting too hard, very well done...thank you.

I appreciate this video because I too had the "petcock" canner and didn't know you could replace them. I have a highly sensitive person living in the house and the petcock is the only way for me to process without driving him bonkers...so if you live with a need for noise reduction...the petcock is the way to go!

FYI: If anybody ever asks you what to do if they have an old All American canner like I do, and what to do with the METAL safety plug, as compared to your rubber safety plug you have on your units in this video. I just got off the phone where I ordered an upgrade kit and the lady asked if I had a metal safety relief style, when I said yes, she said they do NOT make them anymore, but she said to take the toggle relief valve that I am removing and simply replace the metal safety plug and install the petcock style one into that same hole, and I am good to go. It will blow off at a lower pressure than the original metal one, but at least I don't have to throw the unit away now.

I was given an old 941. The overpressure valve or cap is gone. All that is left is a hole with no threads. Will a modern replacement 2040 overpressure plug fit?

I just inherited a #921-1/2 that looks just like the old one you have here. My question is what is the piece threaded in the center of the handle but offset back closer to you? Does this need replaced and what does it do? Thank you.

We have the old style canner. How long do we let the petcock vent before closing it?
