This looks invaluable, definitely on my must have list, cooking in confined spaces is stressful but i still love to cook and being able to cook and leave it unattended for hours worry free is invaluable, thanks for the review!

I love my All American Sun Oven and hold the unofficial record for the coldest use. I used mine in Kiana Alaska at -20F to make vermicelli rice (Rice A Roni) sitting upside down and moving it every 15min.

I have a Sun Oven too and I think it's wonderful, but then I'm not on a boat. The big benefit for me is cooking outdoors and keeping the heat out of the kitchen

Looking forward to this miniseries... On a related note, I have a product review of my own. I took your advice an placed an order with Herby Jerky. Good call on that one! The stuff is awesome. Got the lamb and the Cuban pork. There was a wait for the lamb to come it, but it was worth it. Had to order the pork, I kept thinking about those BBQ candidates at Pig Beach! The pork is like spicy bacon. Thanks for the tip!

So where do you keep the Sun Oven? Do you sleep next to it or inside of it? How do you store such a thing with such limited space? Do you use it to store your shoes in? D:

We keep it in the cockpit in front of the companionway under a false step I made so we can step right over it without hurting it. We keep it empty so that nothing bangs around while we sail.

Is this any better then using solar and plugging in your crockpot?

The crockpot would need an inverter to run it as well as the panels. We don’t have either things on the boat.

They bake pies and cakes well too. I don't know if you have tried lasagna in the oven but it comes out great too.

We do not own one but have friends that have one and love it. While camping, they have cooked the pies and cakes and the lasagne was super yummy. As for recipes, anything you use at home can be used in the sun oven. Meatloaf comes out very good. It cooks chicken and pork shoulder, and we really like chili mac and chicken stew. We have a rv, but now it doesn't get used as much, due to our age. Start it in the morning and by dinner it's ready to serve.

Have you guys thought about building a Dome that can let a lot of sun rays though to the sun oven

I have not simply because of space limitations, but that would nullify the wind issues with the mirrors!

It seems that if the oven needs to be pointed to the sun that it might do well with a couple of adjustable legs so the ropes and pillows become unnecessary.

It has one but if the winds are strong it tips over. The ropes help chock it in place too.

Gonna build one of these, with an element, because 60 degrees C is easier to heat than 2 degrees C! Energy efficiency!

It has been very handy but I think it would take a while for the cost of it to outweigh the savings in fuel costs to run an oven if you already have one. We got this because we didn’t have an oven, but when we left the Azores we did have an oven! We went from 0 to 2 ovens that winter

Looks like a lunar landing pod. I think it would be cool for prepers but give me propane any day. I carry 15 months propane very easily. My force 10 is king.On a boat i think space is way to preciouse. Those tube ones really suck.

We have about 10L of alcohol for our stove and this helps it last longer. Not 15 months long (that is incredible) but it helps it take a little longer to burn through since we don’t always need a flame to cook.

You two are absolutely hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing. As I watched the video, all I could think of was how you reminded me of a sales demo person at a fair, combined with a carnival barker, and evangelist preacher! I kept thinking about the usual sales phrases such as: "as seen on tv," and "but wait....NOW what would you pay?'" Of course the classic: "but wait! There's more!" Then there is: "If you act now.....," "supplies are limited," "if you order right now, we'll include...." Folks, if you ever decide to come ashore, you have a bright future as "product pitch people" at "QVC." Thanks so much for making this video. It was much more entertaining than I had suspected it to be and the chuckles made my morning. Loved it! 🤣😂🤣👍

We Powerboater's thought most of the guys on sailboats liked tube meal's... The end the video is good, something worth looking at ....loosen up some and you could grow your channel 3 fold.. !
