Dont mind me, just making notes of things I find interesting: 0:56 - 32 in 1 game cartridge - UFO 17:09 - Bee-Ball 20:01 - Human Freeway (there's a fun remake/improvement of this on flash) 22:00 - Boulder Dash 24:59 - Bump 'n' Jump 27:07 - California Game 38:49 - Cosmic Commuter 56:21 - Elk Attack

Basically, with the 32-in-1 Game Cartridge (which was bundled with the late-model Atari 2600 in Europe in the late 80s/early 90s), you would have to switch the console on and off to change the game. There was obviously no menu as the stock 2600 wasn't up to the job so it meant your power switch putting in overtime. UFO Patrol was the first game on the cart, which is why it shows here. It had a fair few Activision games on there and those were the main draw. I really don't know how the original cart recorded which game was up in the cycle, and I don't know if or how Stella can reproduce this bank switching mechanism, but ultimately you're just better off getting the 32 individual ROM images for the games.

This video just saved my sanity. I've been wracking my brain trying to remember a couple of games I remember playing as a kid, but could not for the life of me remember enough to describe them successfully to other people. Swordquest. It was the Swordquest games. I feel like a curse has been broken, lol.

Great job. My favorites are: Bermuda, Berzerk, Pacman, Bobby is Going Home, Atlantis II. This list is still missing a game which is similar to Bermuda but you had to take the fighter plane through various difficult and narrow shapes as you progress.

I grew up with Atari 800 XL (better sound / graphics / etc..), but I find myself watching this video and thinking these are still fascinating and very entertaining games. The charm of playing the 2600 can never be matched.

Atari 2600 is the best console of all time!!! Best games ever! Especially activision games. Hero, Kung fu master, Double dragon, Seaquest, River Raid 1&2, Pitfall 1&2, Frogger, Crossbow, Mario Bros, Chopper command, Xenophobe, Moon patrol, Laser blast, Enduro, Keystone cops, Boxing, Tennis, Basketball, Commando, Ikkari warriirs and Ghostbusters. Some of the games I played over and over.

Acid Drop was like your average Tetris And I gonna lie,I still have some of these games on cartridges listed from Atari. I used to go to thrift shops, toys stores, and most of all a computer/tv/electronic repairing place that sold so many Atari cartridges.

Same, I had a massive big game collection. Almost full libraries for a few systems. I slowly started to sell it all off many years ago. Pretty much all sold and gone now. Don't miss it one bit, it's all playable on PC :D

there is 663 on this list atm. I am aware there is a few more than that between prototype's & homebrew games ect. some of which are fairly incomplete, not fully working or really playable. I believe the full list of official games is posted here :) Surely a fan will find at least one or some missing :)

There are rom packs with several hundred on them... It takes me forever on my PS3 to scroll down to the bottom of my 2600 folder.

Sheeeeeit. When you figure it out, repost and let me know. I'll add it for the update version. I am currently rebuilding my arcade hard drive's, I did add some larger updated rom sets to my new arcade build for Atari 2600. Did you watch the entire thing? Or, Mis-remembering ?

trying to remember the name of an Atari game, it was an endless vertical runner. Black background, you jumped over items in the way like fences and you had to collect hearts for points, at least am pretty sure. It was the music for said game which is what I like about it the most.

Greetings friend from Canada :) One could have wished no doubt. Atari wouldn't have been able to continue to compete with Nintendo anyhow. But I know what you mean. Atari 2600 was my first console in the early 80s.

Consoles like the Master system and PS2 had games being made for them well long after they debuted but the Atari VCS was something special. I mean, the system came out in 1977, during which people were still wearing bell bottoms and disco music was popular, but they didn't stop making official games for it worldwide until a few years before the Sony PlayStation came out! That is unbelievable!

Ok please someone help me or I think I might just die because of this one day... I remember somewhere about 1982-1984 somewhere.. a friend had what I thought and remember was an Atari console... we played a cavern flying shootemup on it.. Over the last 10-15 years or so, I've been trying to find that game.. I've looked around sometimes and just kept thought I'm missing it. But today, I've really gone for it and tried to find it, including watching this entire video, alongside a few others... and I CANNOT FIND IT. My brain isn't so screwed up.. it definitely existed, but it seems to have absolutely disappeared from history. I've looked at other consoles at that time and also no joy.. Can someone please help? As I looked through this collection here, I noticed a few which looked slightly similar in terms of layout - it was just a game where you flew around various caverns shooting sprites.. it was all quite colourful and a bit crazy.. The similar games I spotted are: marble craze quad run secret quest star wars jedi arena swordquest fireworld... and the main sprite was like some kind of little alien on a ship, shooting other alien monster bouncing around the caverns... the sprite acted a bit like in Chopper Command... Please can someone help me track down what this game was? I'd be very grateful. Thanks :)

At first I was going right to "defender" of course. That's SO popular though, it's hard to imagine you not finding that one. As I scrolled down to read more, I wonder if its "Vanguard"? ...... Don't just scroll back to it here. It shows so little of it, it might not be enough for your memory. Go watch a full play through video. I have a good feeling.

At the time they were pure magic. :D It's no wounder why we needed a big cardboard box full of 'em though, right? You could only play one for 3-5 minutes and it was time to move on to another one haha. We had to start somewhere.

If this is 4bit i would hate to see what 2bit would look like some of there atari 2600 games are so heavy pixalated that you have to use your imagination to understand what your looking at mind you this is the first console i played as a kid i never played the Fairchild channel f soni went from the atari 2600 to the nes talk about a huge leap in technology lol 😆
