A player burst into full song yesterday, & I waited for them to finish, then rolled a 2 to oppose. If I'd rolled a 20, I'd have said "keep going..."

I hosted a oneshot of all bards for an 80s-inspired battle of the bands, everyone was allowed to multi class in one other class if they wanted but had to be a bard. I was expecting them to constantly try to seduce constantly, and have all their characters be very showy. What I didn’t expect was the way that, as the oneshot continued, they began to theme each combat and performance around a different song, and coordinate everyone’s attacks and turns with parts of the song. It was really cool until you realize that this band covered Warpigs and Running Up That Hill using vocals, an acoustic guitar, a bass, an accordion and a violin

@@DemonicNightmare essentially lol. They asked my permission to bring a prop coffin onstage for their last battle, then coordinated their finishing blow to hit their opponent *into* the coffin. The paladin then read the opponent’s funeral rights live on stage

@@SorobanWorld I love dommy daddy scalies. The point of being a dom is to push your sub to their limits in a way that's safe and consensual. If you're not doing that, you're just abusing them XD So if the potion of regeneration is necessary, then either they're not a dom, just an abuser, or that was what the sub needed.

@@savagefrito Yeah but let's be honest, in the modern landscape even before Baldur's Gate 3, people were using nat 20s as guaranteed successes in their D&D games for a looooong time. Denying that reality is akin to implying the term gay doesn't mean homosexual, because it's original meaning didn't imply that whatsoever. Things change, new things become the norm, whether they're in the rulebook or not.

I was in a party of all bards, where each bard had a different spec so we had a dedicated healer/'wizard'/rogue/diplomat/etc.... there were MANY performance rolls so we ended up with groupies and fans all over. We weren't very powerful (and honestly were really annoying), and the campaign ended in a near TPK, but those bards that lived were legendary NPC's mentioned by every city in every campaign from them on. For a DM's sanity, never let your party be all bards.

This was my first exposure to your channel. You had me at the bard help action being the player mouth music, which I will always do from now on. Thank you. Then the magic came, and I was laughing so loud my dog was staring at me, and I couldn’t stop to tell him I was fine, so he came over to see what was up. Thank you. Finally, the professionalism of closing out the piece with a 4. Not a 20, or a 1. (I personally suspect that was the actual roll.). And the player looking at the DM expectantly. Well played. Thank you.

This reminds of the time in a D&D session where my character was mistaken for a famous singer by an enemy camp and the DM gave me the option to either just roll and see how I did or actually sing and be judged based on my performance, I wrote an actual song and called it “Saw Through My Disguise” and it freaking worked. 😂

I love playing a bard in D&D. When I try to stop every conflict with singing, DM said it's like Disney show now.
