All Bosses and Enemies of Blake Stone

In this video I show both the bosses and all the other enemies you encounter in the Blake Stone games (Aliens of Gold & Planet Strike). As in Wolfenstein 3D, there are no special tactics, you just have to react fast enough and dodge. But dodging is not that easy in Blake Stone: the circle strafing you are used to in shooters unfortunately doesn't work (only with a fan game version).

I had Planet Strike as a young lad and it never failed to strike me as just how bad some of the monster names where. What the hell is a Breather Beast... a Beast that Breathes? Dr. Goldstein sure has a low bar for his monsters.

"Intruder!"... "Meh..." Oh, I love mowing down hordes of sector patrols... but screw respawning plasma aliens. And you forgot to mention about ceiling turrets that they can only be damaged by Rapid Assault Rifle and Dual Neutron Disruptor.

Blake Stone is an amazing game I remember playing as a kid. Imo, just as good as Doom.

Im not a gamer, but our first home computer had this game in it back in the 90’s. It was the only computer game i’ve ever played and still rerember a lot of it and brings back crazy menories . Randomly thought of it and youtubed it just for fucks. So random

The music in this game was composed by the same composer for Wolf3d and Doom, Robert Prince. Notice one of the tracks is similar to the E2M8 "Tower of Babel" theme.

Also worth noting that, on it's highest difficulty, it's probably one of the hardest commercial FPS ever released. X_X It shares a similar damage system to Wolf 3D because of course it does. But, the worse part is that, unlike it Wolf 3D, enemies don't stagger on high difficulty.

And enemies have A TON more health. You pretty much have to know where all the secrets with extra ammo are or you're not beating it past level 3.

I think Blake Stone was one of the reasons why Doom didn't have aliens but demons from hell. id wanted a theme that wasn't done to death (Masters of Doom mentions that though not Blake Stone explicitly)

nah Doom originally was meant to be an Aliens game but ID failed to get the license so they changed it to different setting

Not sure about that specific one, but it likely came from some sort of sound library. That's where a lot of sounds from that era of games came from. Like some sounds from enemies in the Doom games are actually camels lol. Example of stock "dinosaur" sound effects which have also been used in many things like Duke Nukem: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rM5-q7KUp92nqJc.html

It’s a standalone game, believe it or not. It was released on 3 December 1993, and garnered some praise and had good initial sales, but was quickly overshadowed by DOOM, which was released one week later.

They all look interesting, but compared to Doom, most act very similar to each other
