ALL Deltarune Chapter 1 Easters Eggs, Secrets, and References Revised
The ULTIMATE Gaster Eggs experience!
I cut, edited, and rearranged 4 videos worth of Deltarune secrets and more. It is super satisfying to have everything laid out more-or-less sequentially, as well was condensing "corrections", trimming anything repetitive, and expanding/adding anything that's come up since.
This is now THE way to see these videos! I promise it makes for a much better overall viewing experience when it isn't all spread out in super confusing ways.

Back when Deltarune first launched, I saw a distinct lack of videos covering all of the cool secrets and extra details within this game. That video BLEW UP!! I had never experienced it before. It was probably the first moment where it felt like I had an honest shot of making it on KZfaq!
I followed it up with 3 more videos that worked to explore the game as thoroughly as possible, working heavily off comments and suggestions on that first video. It was a wild ride! It bring me so much joy to revisit these videos.

As we now know, Kris' pronouns are canonically they/them. Keep in mind that at the time of Chapter 1's release, that was unconfirmed. And it was common for players to project themselves on Kris, the same way we were encouraged to do with Frisk in Undertale. I believe this was a bit of an intentional mislead by Toby, leaving it unspoken to begin with - only to change to they/them later on. This entire game (so far) has strong themes of control, and taking that bit of control the player had over Kris away is important to the story Deltarune is telling. It's about separating Kris, and the player - and keeping the player guessing as to what precisely the nature of that relationship is. But yes, that does mean that I use he\him for Kris at various points of this video.

Your locker being empty is actually interesting, since your side of the room is also barren. It emphasizes something about Kris. I'm not sure what, but he seems to not have an identity of his own, to be depressed, and to simply not feel a need for anything.

there’s a huge theory i can’t summarize well about how we’re being recruited by gaster to help kris save the world, because they didn’t successfully do it on their own. and the fact the colors on their side of the room are dimmer and it’s empty represents the timeline when they failed and assumingly everyone died. it also plays into how suzie makes comments about kris looking like a corpse

There is one more easter egg that I haven't seen anyone cover, for some reason. I had to encounter it myself. In the "run in circles until it gets dark" room, if you flip the switch without running around first, Ralsei will ask how you knew it was there, before saying "You're a very special person, aren't you Kris?"

Well, to follow up with this. Onion has something ominous to say. On day 2 she talks about this song, faintly heard at the bottom of the sea, and that she remembers the full song was played on the surface, but nothing else about it, and tells you to come back tomorrow. Even more ominous

Idk if you bring this up in a later video but since the Dark Candy smells like the markers, it's also noteworthy that if you take the chalk from chapter 2 into the Dark World it will become the Light Candy. So Markers and Chalk are both candy, but Pencils are swords for Kris for some reason

1:41:53 is actually a reference to a secret line of dialogue hidden in Undertale's code about "Bepis", a recurring joke that shows up elsewhere in the code. The exact line is "You know what I hate? Bepis. The taste, the smell, the texture... Hey, you're drooling!", which is in turn a reference to a similar line in Earthbound.

5:00 That line is also said by Asgore, in the Throne Room, before his fight. "It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming...Perfect weather for a game of catch." 9:10 "Chairiel" is the name of the chair in Toriel's room she sits on to write her diary. If you interact with it, it says something along the lines of "This is Toriel's chair. Its name is Chairiel." 48:40 Not sure if this is anything, but this is similar to the dialogue Alphys says after you spare Mettaton and he runs out of batteries. 53:06 What the-why does everyone have 500 max HP? 1:31:33 I'm almost certain World Revolving does use Gaster's Theme in its third section, and a few other points - at the very least, it uses it more obviously than The Circus.

The quote actually originates from EarthBound! The final line is "It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming. On days like these, kids like you should be playing Nintendo games." And the 500 max HP is something you can do in Debug mode.

Using hindsight from chapter 2, I think Toby already had the idea for Noelle to enter the dark world in chapter 1 and that's why it's Kris, Susie, and Noelle that all have special dialogue for the named creator. Just goes to show Toby's unending planning and effort put into this series and just how far he goes to put in the tiniest easter eggs. edit: After watching more and seeing Jevil's "The Queen will come" line I think this is almost guarenteed.

The wrist protector is, most likely, a nod to speedrunners. The shortcut itself that unlocks the item (going back to bed in a 2nd or higher playthrough) is pretty much there exactly for the benefit of speedrunners so they can skip the Light World sequences, AND the item itself lets them speed through text without having to tap buttons repeatedly, thus being a virtual wrist protector for those challenge players who often have to replay the game dozens of times to practice & find faster routes! 😄

I've seen someone pointing this out once and just blew my mind so... Jevil talks A LOT about being the only one to be free, that everyone else is caged, this mixed with the fact that he's the only one who actually has voice acting and a 3d background says "You are all trapped onto a 2d world", or something like that. Also the quotes like "I can do anything"

Just replayed Chapter 1 and found Rouxls' dialogue in his shop changes after your last encounter with him and C.Round, He stops referring us as worms but as "Heroic Comrades"

The water fountain going from lukewarm to tepid to refreshingly cool is a kind of cute detail because on a hot day if a tap hasn't been used for a while the water in the pipe will be hot or warm and get progressively cooler as fresher water from the pipes comes through the tap. Like there's no reason to put that little detail in the text box but they did it anyway.

32:30 , when talking about the souls being present openly in the designs of the other party members, it's interesting to note that Kris is wearing like a suit of armor whereas Susie and Ralsei are not. To me that says Kris has more walls around them, like they're literally protecting their heart and by extension emotions, whereas the other two are definitely more emotion based characters. Could just be looking too deep into it though.

Concerning Noelle and reindeer/caribou: the cows (females) most certainly DO grow antlers. In fact, bulls shed theirs yearly after mating season, leaving the cows the only ones bearing them during the winter months. Which in the long run means that Santa's team are probably female.

Maybe the reason the clocks are at different times in each room is because they are different places in the Dark World. It could be possible that the places in other chapters are set in other rooms of the school, the ‘primitive sculpture’ might actually be a place of significance. Idk but and in Chapter One the unused classroom is already explored so going to other rooms doesn’t seem too far fetched I guess.

i just found a pretty epic easter egg. so in 4:41 when he says that all of the deltarune symbols are up down up except for the one on toriels house, i was casually booting up undertale to try to fight sans in the judgement hall, but then i noticed that its up down up for the windows but down up down(just like toriels house) right above the door. i dont know if the judgement hall has anything to do with toriel but its a cool random eater egg i spotted

ralsei's manual is so cute ,^^, it makes me feel a bit bad, though, knowing he made it himself and watching jerma violently toss it on the ground lol. i also love how toby makes a bunch of stuff in ms paint (i am totally convinced that spamton's head sprite was made in ms paint, as an avid ms paint user), the manual included; i recognize the brushes!

Some more things I noticed in my run: - If you backtrack to the maze part of The Fields after you've reached the final boss, the clobbered Jigsawry's are no longer there... for some reason. - If you backtrack to the room where you fought King Round in the Castle, you can talk to its downgraded form to get the dialogue: "(Its previously violent expression has turned to kindness...) (It will now live a peaceful life.)" - In the Clubs room before the King Round battle, you can talk to Hathy to get this text: "(Hathy is the second party member. It's the healer.) (She was in charge of catering the party.) (Unfortunately the cake she commissioned was destroyed in a field somewhere.)" - - Obviously, she's talking about the cake Suzie ate. - In the obstacle room where the Worm sits next to the tree, you can access the off-screen treasure chest by stepping through the cut-off parts of the path that the Bloxers are flying through. Really cool video!! Thank you so much for your in-depth information. I just played through chapter 1 again and tried to get all of the secret items/easter eggs!

If you go to the drinking fountain (and interact with it) on the way to the dark cabinet with Susie, she’ll warn you about people putting their mouths on it, which the video covered. If you do it again, she’ll go “Hey! that wasn’t supposed to be encouragement!” (Or something along those lines)

1:14:45 Wait, hold up. Idk if this is obvious and the cogs in my brain just started turning, but does that mean Kris is technically Chara renamed by them? We never see a sight of ACTUAL affection of Kris with Toriel or Asgore. They are the ones doing stuff, not him. Plus even if he does, the last scene proves that the the decisions taken by him are not HIS but the players. Does that mean that unlike the story in Undertale, Chara just failed at his plan and didn't come close to death... That's actually a horrific thought for me and somehow, it's fits well...

The “bootis” thing when giving Onion a name is actually a reference to something you could find in the undertale files. In the image it talks about bepis and how much he hates it. When onion says “the taste, the smell, the...”, that is a direct reference from said image, where it says the same thing
