Let me chime in here: the 8220 and 8240 is going to be as high as you want to go currently. The 50 and 60 models have insufficient bearings that cannot handle 30,000 rpm- they heat up and fail- becoming so hot that it mishapes the interior support braces resulting in the entire motor shaft becoming loose leaving you without a useable tool. Not sure why there isn’t more context about this issue-I sent mine back 4 times before I decided to fix this issue myself. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful as the fix is replacing the bearings with quality bearings. Bringing me to the next issue. Technically, this is not a Dremel at all. Dremel has been sold twice with the most recent in the 90’s to ‘Bosch’. Understand that a new tool is a ‘Bosch’ product with the name ‘Dremel’ on the side. No longer made in Germany or Switzerland- this tool is made in and with components of ‘Mexico’. Mexico. Which could be the worst quality production country in the world. Save money and buy a better product investing in a Milwaukee. If your box says Dremel on it, you’ve Compromised quality for a name. Period.

What dremel type tool would you buy if it is not from the dremel brand?

I've had a Dremel Multitool Pro #395 (10k to 37k) for around 20-odd years. The chuck is nearly worn out, and the button to unlock the shaft is really stiff, but it has worked every time I've needed it. It was made in Mexico, not sure if that is normal. It is easily my oldest power tool. Nice video. I might upgrade soon. $0.02

Which brand of sanding sleeves do you buy off of Amazon?

There is a tool that has more power than any Dremel, if you really need to step up to a professional level, but still need to use 1/8th inch Dremel bits. Foredom are industrial strength flex-shaft tools with power ratings measured in terms of horsepower (1/3, 1/10, 1/5) . They are a lower RPM, but far higher torque, running at a single speed and turning in only one direction. They have multiple detachable handpieces used for different diameter shaft bits (1/8th ", 1/4" ) as well as adjustable chucks and foot-switch controllers. They last for many years - we have used the same one in our shop since 2005. We also found that using a Dremel all day made our hands numb due to the vibration, so we switched over to Korean-made micromotor tools that ran smoother and faster. The real Korean tools are extremely expensive - The Chinese copies are cheaper and of far lower quality. They get hot very quickly, are noisy and vibrate more. Use real Korean micromotor tools if you buy one. They are worth the cost.

no sorry, how do you change the brushes then? I have 3 Dremel 4250s for work, and I also wanted to get the 8240. I run out of brushes quickly, how the hell should I change them now?
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Ай бұрын
On the 8240 I don't think you can change the brushes that easily. They are built into the motor housing so I think getting a new motor is needed if they wear out. But I don't know the durability of the cordless brushes compared to the corded ones. The 8250 is brushless though. So it should be more durable.
@woodenheart3494
@woodenheart3494 Ай бұрын
@@rotarycrafts8760 but it's unthinkable! if the brushes last about 50 hours, why would you ever buy a dremel, costing 150 euros, which you then throw away?? this is impossible, they can't be that stupid, maybe these brushes are made to last much longer?
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Ай бұрын
@@woodenheart3494 I've searched around a bit for this now, and to me it seems that the tools will last longer than 50 hours. But if it used harshly, the lifetime of the brushes will decrease of course. I have not any problems with mine yet but i have not ran it for more than 50 hours. But, it is not designed so that you can change brushes easily yourself. In the spare parts manual the entire motor assembly with the shaft is one part, and it goes for around 30$. Here something stated in the manual about the motor: "The motor in your tool has been engineered for many hours of dependable service. To maintain peak efficiency of the motor, we recommend it be examined every six months. Only a genuine Dremel replacement motor specially designed for your tool should be used." You might be better of sticking to the cordless models if you need to use it a little bit harshly and be able to change brushes yourself. The brushless models 8250/60 promises a longer lifetime, but they are still relatively new tools for me so i cannot say anything from experience.

@@rotarycrafts8760 hi, this dremel has yet to arrive, maybe I'm worrying too soon, but I want to find out first. I tried to look at the manual online, but I can't find any of this, maybe there are more manuals once it arrives. but I find it very strange that there are no videos on KZfaq, Reddit posts, or more specific information on the matter, at least, unfortunately I haven't found them. Can I ask you the name or code of the piece you are talking about? because I can't find it in the online manual. from what I think, the brushes are made to last much longer in this dremel, if I had to replace them I can't therefore use the traditional ones, at least I think.. thank you very much for the information you found.

Do bosch batteries fit the the a dremel 8260?
@rotarycrafts8760

Yes, many of the Bosch batteries will work. You can see which ones in the user manual. Just Google "Dremel 8260 user manual" and it should pop up.

How much cost the replacement of motor brush?
@DownHillgamer

Hmm. Cant decide between 4000 or 4300. I just want one to mess around with and could use to clean up old rusty tools and polish stuff, maybe sharpen some tools and cut smaller bolts. Wireless would be cool but i want that constant corded power and dont wana spend abunch for a powerful cordless one
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Ай бұрын
I'd get the 4000 then, since I have more experience with it. I've had mine for 3 years without any problems. More than powerful enough and I like the design better than the 4300. But both are good.
