A couple years ago I had this song on repeat before I almost ended my life. Life is so much better now I'm so glad I'm still here. I just felt this song spoke to me during those dark days but glad listening back it has a different meaning now. I survived.

This song is just masterfully written, how the first time we hear the "are you feeling nervous" section it seems innocuous, almost inviting, then the second time it's contextualized, you realize what it means.

I only just discovered Bo today (I know, what the hell is wrong with me) and I am just... blown away. This song actually made me uncomfortable, afraid, and sad. Because all I can see is "he's not okay, he's falling apart" and maybe that's what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid of going back to "not being okay" again; that probably scares me more than anything else in this world. I fought so hard to get out of that place, and now I'm terrified of it.... I love this song.

I just watched this for the first time and I'm in tears. When he yelled "get the fuck up!" I felt something awaken in me - like I've been in a listless dream for years and am only now aware of what surrounds me, of my existence here and now; opening my heart to feel things I've pushed aside for fear of feeling them. This video reminds me of what I once seemed to know, that to feel something is better than feeling nothing. I finally got to a place where I could leave home and get a job.. and then the pandemic hit... and all of my "irrational" fears were shown to be valid. And I was trapped again. This song really captures that feeling and that time. I'm still working on being ok

Considering what he went through mentally the last time he performed, I feel like this is symbolic of taking control of his mental state, and saying he no longer fears the crowd he loves so much. Not often you see someone's journey played out for all to see, and it's honestly quite inspiring. Bo, you done good. Sincerely hope the best for you as an entertainer 2nd and as a human being 1st.

I remember when I first listened to this song I was in a depressive and dissociative slump at the time. I was numb and reverted back to listening to depressing songs in an attempt to feel something. Then, the moment Bo broke from the song and into "I'm talking to you get the fuck up!" I was genuinely sent reeling. It triggered this incredibly deep dissociative sensation the likes of which I've only felt about 4-5 times in my life.(And I dissociate A LOT) Much more than just heavy dissociation, but some sensation that takes dissociation and brings a genuine sense of reality breaking a part. I just stared at the screen, even after the video ended. Just staring, feeling like I couldn't move even though I knew if I just tried I could do it easily. Like there was some blockage preventing me to even try and move a muscle. I remember just crying on the floor of my room for at least an hour afterwards, having set the song to loop. I listen now, having just come from a sort of documentary video on youtube (literally watched it yesterday) that basically described Inside as "the punchline to a 15 year long joke". I've already found Bo's work to be incredibly metaphorical with hidden messages hidden within in such an intrinsical fashion. But now coming from that video it's like a new light has been shone on it. The video felt like a big sign reading "Bo, your message has been heard." It's this feeling I really don't know how to describe but it has me wanting to praise Bo, but also realizing that praise probably isn't something Bo wants to recieve. I really just feel like I need to say something but theres just no words to describe it. In case anyone's curious, video's called "Bo Burnham tried to warn us" and it's by a channel named "1rock" or "level1rock" or something like that.

It doesn’t matter how many times I hear this it changes me more and more every single time.

One of the most magical things about this special is that Bo’s songwriting ability surpasses most actual pop stars. “You say the ocean’s rising like a give a shit, you say the whole worlds ending, honey it already did, you’re not gonna slow it heaven knows you tried, got it? Good, now get inside.” Goosebumps from a comedian, whilst singer songwriters are selling out stadiums writing the most vapid lyrics of their generation. Crazy world.

I didn't see any other comments talking about the background video. I tried so hard to figure out what angle it was recording from, but then I realized it's a pre-recorded video that he's re-enacting as it continues. Just another instance of Bo being so intensely choreographed and brilliant in his execution. Makes me think of being on a traditional stage with screens for the back to see clearly, as well as symbolizing the added layer of him being (literally now) in his own head, shadowed by his own success and expectations. So well thought out and amazingly open to interpretation.

This whole special was so moving. It just felt so surreal. It felt so real, and raw and sincere yet at the same time it feels almost impossible for anything to be that real and honest these days with how fake and contrived everything is.

It's a rare privilege to see a guy with this much talent put this much time, thought and dedication into creating something. This special just gets better every time I watch it.

Fuckin hell the like 50 harmonies he added to the word “Inside” gives me chills every time I listen to the song and it’s a drug I can’t get enough of

I've seen this video so many times since it's been released. As someone that suffers from severe depression and anxiety, this song really speaks to me, as it makes me feel seen and heard. I know artistic pieces can have multiple layers to different people, but for me, this feels like the most accurate depiction of being trapped in depression with no way out. The most haunting thing about this piece feels like the depression is an old friend and that you must focus your entire view on it at all times. It's almost like leaving isn't really an option and even if you could escape it, the world is shit anyway, so come home to you real friend, depression. This song has legitimately gotten me through some very difficult times, and even if my interpretation is somehow wrong, I'm grateful this song exists because there is sometimes hope in just being able to feel seen. Thank you for creating this.

I recently went back and watched Inside for the first time since the pandemic. Totally different feeling watching it retrospectively than when I watched it and we were fully in the throes of the pandemic. It's like a time capsule for one of the darkest times of many of our lives.

It makes me sad that he spent FIVE YEARS improving his mental health and then the funniest thing happened. I just want to give him a hug.

There’s a specific part of this song where he does this one melody …. Literally brings me tears when i hear , this song purely on a musical and sonic standpoint , is simply beautiful.

I feel like he's been preparing for songs like these his whole career. He hits us with the awkward/dark humour in preperation to completely baffle us with performances like these.

This song is a really good representation of how performers felt during quarantine. For me, the stage was my escape my whole life. When 2020 hit, my mental health declined really bad. It feels so bad to finally find a way to get away from it all and then have it taken so fast.

When the world needed him the most, comedy Jesus returned with one of the best specials of all time

A friend showed me “I’m Bo Yo” when we were in 8th grade. I’ve been a fan ever since then and I’m almost 29 now. This special made me sit down and cry my eyes out. Thank you for showing yourself at your worst mental state because a lot of us feel the same.

His distant gaze shifting to directly staring into the camera is chilling when he ask me if I’m feeling nervous…

This piece reminds me of the initial grief I felt when I first found out I was pregnant with my son while I was single, 24, and living in a student ghetto with roommates while I tried managing work and college. I moved back home with my family to have the support needed for my son and I, and of course I love and adore him for he is my entire life, world, and stars, but I'll never forget the feeling of shame and sadness as I realized my life was going to be changed forever, and I would have to face other people's judgement as a single mom who got herself knocked up four months after finally moving out and going back to college. Be grateful for the people you have, and never assume what choices or events led people to where they are today, because you yourself may one day have a funny story to tell.

"We Think We Know You", "Can't Handle This" and then "All Eyes on Me" make for such a great representation of how Bo's work has developed and thrived over the years. Inside is amazing and Bo is a genius.
