I shouldn’t be too surprised that no one likes Kerry Shale Henry lol. I don’t mind it personally but I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best. I would say that Keith Wickham OWNS Henry, especially as the seasons progressed S.18 and onward. Great job dude!

I really like Baldwin’s Henry voice, he sounds stuffy and grumpy like how he should be.

The Baldwin Henry voice is amazing. He sounds like a stuffy, bratty teenager. That’s so relatable to me and just shows he’s tired with life in general. I think Robin Smith is fine with Henry in the other DVDs, but the clip you used from the Steamies Vs Diesels DVD, with Henry’s voice is utterly terrible. Henry voiced by Robin Smith is the definition of inconsistency. Michael Brandon’s Henry voice in S11-12 is so terrible it pulls him down severely on my ranking.

Like Gordon, Henry is a character who's (if not all) voices are manufactured due to how many times he had been written or much of a large factor his life is. And so it can be very hard to keep him sound natural and keep his character consistent at the same time. Side-note, I love Alec Baldwin's Henry voice. So the only two people that managed to get him right are both Kevin Frank and Simon Hepworth (Henry's subplot of being ill was written in the script/final cut of the film so the stuffed up part isn't like it was done on purpose, so Kevin Frank still gave it his all and I'm sure he'd still do a more fantastic job in two other scenes that were originally written in the script like how he was offended about Percy using the word 'silence' and thanking Thomas for bringing the new coal). So Kevin Frank is now my favorite Henry VA! However, outside those English-speaking voices, Ryō Horikawa really nailed his character and sounded natural too in the Japanese dub of S1-8!

I also really like Series 7 Angelis.

I did have a feeling Kerry Shale would be the bottom of the list, but I didn't expect to see Pierce Brosnan at the top of the list. As for character voices you should rank next, maybe you should do Edward or maybe a TV series character, like Emily.

Henry’s voice is as inconsistent as Thomas in the HIT Model Era

I never knew why but Henry is by far my favorite of the first 10 engines. I kinda think that he’s trying to be posh cause he’s basically a badly designed Gordon and I know Awdry hated that they made Henry a nature lover because it’s not accurate to how railroads work but I like it. I think it’s nice to see engines having interests outside of favorite stations or types of trains to pull. Thanks for the rating of his VAs and I can’t wait to see what you do next

George's voices for Henry is my personal favorite because of how I see in my headcanon. I headcanon Henry being done with life and very cynical view on most things except for nature and a few things but also sympathetic. George's voice has that grandpa hating everything around him type, but also that sympathetic edge to him like you said.

If I’m honest, Willie Rushton’s Henry (one of the people who recorded audiobook versions of Wilbert’s books) is one of my favorite interpretations of his character, along with Ted Robbins’s portrayal in his rendition of Henry and the Express (one of Christopher’s books). Willie Rushton’s work on The Railway Series in general is some of the best in the whole franchise imo, along with Angelis and Carlin in the TV series. His narration is very much informed by the lore of the books, being the only narrator in the whole franchise who pronounces Rheneas the way Wilbert Awdry intended it to be pronounced (RHEN-e-as, instead of the more widely known rhen-AY-iss).

I like Kerry Shale and Michael Brandon’s voice for Henry. I don’t like Kevin Frank’s performance as Henry as he made him sound too bland and young. John Cleese would have been better to make Henry sound more grumpy and dignified. That’s part of his character. If they were to make more episodes or good movies to have Henry in an active role like Thomas, Percy and James (instead of the crappy reboot), Henry definitely would have been Near Pure Good as he subverted most of his rude and selfish traits by season 8, despite still being arrogant. Gordon would have also been Inconsistently Admirable as he didn’t subvert many of his corrupting traits like Thomas and James if he did more heroic actions.

12:17 Nope your not the only one who likes Angelis in S7. I also rewatched the episodes as him being the narrator and honestly he was okay, sure he wasn’t excited in S6 but who cares. To me I think the best voice actor for Henry is Angelis, Carlin, and Ringo. As I started to rewatch the classic series of Thomas, and yes I was born in America and only watched US dubs as a kid, but I did try the UK dubs as well, Ringo and Angelis actually we’re alright. It’s well ashamed that the new voice actor for Henry in CGI didn’t go well, still I kinda find it funny in my opinion how they made him so young.
