In 1991, CBS re-aired decades-old episodes of All in the Family on primetime during its Summer schedule from June 2 to July 7, 1991 as a 1990-91 mid-season summer replacement show For Murder, She Wrote. During its summer run, the then 20-year-old program was popular, garnering higher ratings than the new series scheduled pairing next to it, Norman Lear's new (and decidedly less successful) sitcom Sunday Dinner. The latter was Lear's return to TV series producing after a seven-year absence (after the failed A.k.a. Pablo for ABC in 1984), and was cancelled after the six-week tryout run due to being poorly received by audiences. This was not to be, as Sunday Dinner lost much of the lead-in from the AITF reruns; it was cancelled after the 6-week tryout run, due to being poorly received by audiences during the 1990-91 TV season. As a result, the network continued to air reruns of selected episodes that also resurfaced in prime time for 2 months in September 6 to 16, 1991, and early the following year 4 months later, in January 11 to 25, 1992, again as a 1991-92 mid-season replacement show (P.S. I Luv U), it was called All in the Family Classics in promos on Saturday nights, throughout the 1991-92 TV season. At times the rebroadcasts drew higher ratings than original programming airing in prime time, including much of CBS' own programming.

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played! Songs that made the Hit Parade... Guys like me, we had it made.... Those were the days. Didn't need no welfare state... Everybody pulled his weight... Gee, our old La Salle ran great! Those were the days. And you knew where you were then! Girls were girls, and men were men! Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again... People seemed to be content. $50 paid the rent... 'Freaks' were in a circus tent. Those were the days. Take a little Sunday spin.... Go to watch the Dodgers win! Have yourself a dandy day That cost you under a fin (

@@richardcarrier9536 In the last stanza I think it might be "Kate Smith really sung that song" (meaning God Bless America).
