Call of Duty is a video game series and media franchise published by Activision, starting in 2003. The games were first developed by Infinity Ward, then by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games. Several spin-off and handheld games were made by other developers. The most recent title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, was released on October 28, 2022. The next title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, will be released on November 10, 2023.
The series originally focused on the World War II setting, with Infinity Ward developing Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 and Treyarch developing Call of Duty 3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare introduced a modern setting, and proved to be the breakthrough title for the series, creating the Modern Warfare sub-series; a Modern Warfare remastered version released in 2016. Two other entries, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 , were made. The sub-series received a reboot with Modern Warfare in 2019, Modern Warfare II in 2022, and Modern Warfare III in 2023. Infinity Ward have also developed two games outside of the Modern Warfare sub-series, Ghosts and Infinite Warfare.
Treyarch made one last World War II-based game, World at War before releasing Black Ops and subsequently creating the Black Ops sub-series. Four other entries, Black Ops II , Black Ops III , Black Ops 4 , and Cold War were made, the latter in conjunction with Raven Software. Sledgehammer Games, who were co-developers for Modern Warfare 3, have also developed three titles, Advanced Warfare , Call of Duty: WWII , and Vanguard . They are also the lead developer for Modern Warfare III , the third entry in the Modern Warfare reboot sub-series.
As of April 2021, Call of Duty has sold over 400 million copies. The series is verified by the Guinness World Records as the best-selling first-person shooter game series. It is also the most successful video game franchise created in the United States and the fourth best-selling video game franchise of all time. Other products in the franchise include a line of action figures designed by Plan B Toys, a card game created by Upper Deck Company, Mega Bloks sets by Mega Brands, and a comic book miniseries published by WildStorm Productions, and a feature film in development .
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a 2019 first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Serving as the sixteenth overall installment in the Call of Duty series, as well as a reboot of the Modern Warfare sub-series, it was released on October 25, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.
The game takes place in a realistic and modern setting. The campaign follows a CIA officer and British SAS forces as they team up with rebels from the fictional Republic of Urzikstan, combating together against Russian Armed Forces who have invaded the country and the Urzik terrorist group Al-Qatala, while searching for a stolen shipment of chlorine gas. The game's Special Ops mode features cooperative play missions that follow on from the campaign. The multiplayer mode supports cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform progression for the first time in the series. It has been reworked for gameplay to be more tactical and introduces new features, such as a Realism mode that removes the HUD as well as a form of the Ground War mode that now supports 64 players. A post-launch update introduces a free-to-play battle royale mode, Warzone, which was also marketed as a standalone title. Multiplayer also supports shared screen multiplayer. This mode includes bots, custom maps, custom game-modes and other creative game-interfering actions.
Infinity Ward began working on the game soon after the release of their 2016 title Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. They introduced an entirely new engine for the game, which allows for new performance enhancements such as more detailed environments and ray-tracing capabilities. For the campaign, they took influence from real-life conflicts, such as the Syrian Civil War, 2012 Benghazi attack, Raid of Osama Bin Laden's compound and terrorist incidents that have occurred in London. For the multiplayer, they scrapped the franchise's traditional season pass and removed loot boxes, enabling them to distribute free post-launch content to the playerbase in the form of "Seasons".

Think that also depends if your character is running stealth perks like dead silence because 2019 had that issue where your character would constantly shout even when running stealth perks. I know I’ve heard the mw3 operators say stuff for killstreaks rather than the UAV call-ins

No it's not, MWIII and II are on literally exact same version of the exact same engine, they pretty much look the same more or less, both have very different art style compared to MW2019 and art style makes them look worse even though those two games are technically more advanced when it comes to graphics.@@wronowaty69

remember that some of the OG IW devs came back for the reboot, thats probably a big reason why most of the game was a hit. then they left after they were not allowed much artistic freedom for MWII lol, ATVI had gold and turned it into pure rust. (no pun intended.)

Everything is up to par except lighting was more realistic in mw19. They traded realistic lighting for visibility which was a huge problem in mw19.

@@k3mx_ I disagree. In reality the only thing they have downgraded was lighting to improve visibility. Visibility was terrible in mw19 and vangaurd, it’s at better in mw2/3. Gun models are also cursed now because they use fake guns though. Color palette and sound is much better in mw3 though. Everything sounds like it’s real and in front of you in mw3, in mw19 sounds like everything was recorded with a shitty microphone then put into the game. MW3 is like you’re looking and hearing things in real life, mw19 feels like your seeing and hearing everything through a camera. It comes down to preference though and you’re okay to prefer whatever you want.

@@NikoPasho-lb4jr Yes. The animations are better and even the way the gun moves around on the screen when you look and move around is better. It’s super realistic and feels like the gun is actually being held by a person. I also like the sounds. But strictly gameplay-wise: the recoil, visual recoil, and gunplay are almost a perfect balance between mw19 and mw2 imo.

MW2019 remains unique. Graphically, it blows away every new COD part. More realistic graphics, each subsequent one moves away from the original. The truth is that the original is always the best. Instead of better optimizing each subsequent one to its likeness, the creators only destroy them. MW2019 is still the best. FOV is only missing on consoles.

@@k3mx_ A lot is better, like just about every gameplay design choice. Only lighting is less realistic in mw3 for visibility, but it still looks beautiful.
