The book actually brings this up; and, while I don’t know if there is actually a portrait of Hamilton in the Red Room, there is no doubt in my mind Casey chose him specifically when they were writing the book. (And yes; I’ve read some of his letters to Laurens, and I do think he was more than likely bi. Also, Chernow’s biography is great - see attached bibliography)
