Agreed. The Mother-daughter tension was just lazy unnecessary plot drama, when there was so much more interesting drama going on in this series.

I mean wednesday is a teenager now. Most of us went through that teenager phase when we were not close with our mother. The plot went perfectly.

@@potatowatermelonsalad5631 Yeah but "Addams Family Values" (1991) had similar mother-daughter drama where Morticia sent Wednesday off to a summer camp she hated. Made more sense there because: (A) that was the ONLY parent-child conflict in the story making it interesting, (B) that camp was the complete opposite of everything that is Wednesday so it made more sense Wednesday would hate her mom for sending her there.

@@FunFilmFare yes I understand but “Addams family Values” is when wednesday is around 12 years old. This wednesday on Netflix series is suppose to be 16. A 16 year old has completely different mindset than 12/13 so its makes sense that that they had those teenager phase where she’s not close with her mother. It goes with the plot

I feel the same I still cant put my finger on what is wrong, but it does have something to do with her relationship to Gomez

I believe the reason why they didnt seem to have much chemistry is because they really didnt have much screentime and when they did, they acted as supporting characters only. On the movies we see way more of them together because the family addams is literally the central theme, different from here where the focus is on wednesday and HER relationships, HER chemistry with other characters. Not her parents. Not to mention that one of the reasons why people complained so much about the animations, is that they failed to bring something new to the table. So thats why wednesday differs from the movies in so many ways We already know morticia and gomez are eternal lovebirds on an endless honeymoon. Now its time to add layers to the other characters. I really hope we'll see more of gomez and morticia on the second season and CROSSING my fingers for pubert and grandma addams to come back. But we all know it would be just for the fan service. And i dont want wednesday to be overshadowed by her parents on her own show.

Catherine and Luis did good as the Addams couple. It's the script that deviated from their characters who are known for morbid interests. Original Tish would most likely look back on a murder scene with fondness and Gomez would have remarked that he had a blast being arrested for murder.

yeah it feels off. but it’s a new story pretty much nothing screams “addams family” for me. i like how they took their own direction but it feels like they catered to the new generation a little too much. tried to make wednesday into wannabe april ludgate type of character

they don't really have conflict. Tish loves her daughter and Wednesday loves Tish. It's just Wenesday feels intimidated by Tish's success in the past and don't want to be in her shadows at school

THIS!!! The mother-daughter drama between Wednesday and Mortician pissed me off for 2 reasons : 1) it’s out of character 2) it felt unnecessary to the plot, which had other more interesting family conflicts. Like with the Sheriff and his son.

Nada a ver... A morticia de Anjelica houston tinha suavidade, graça e elegância, sem perder o ar etéreo e sombrio. Ela realmente encarnou morticia, pois sua atuação era muito natural. Sem falar que a química que ela tinha com Raul Julia era fenomenal. Uma boa atuação não é medida por uma atriz ser ou não sexy. Sua visão é muito superficial.

I don't care if Gomez is white, black, brown, yellow, pink, etc. And yes I am aware of the 1930s version, as in those versions, Gomes is portrayed as some sort of super human (for those times).
