Paul wrote those incredible chords. It's a phenomenal song, if only just for the chords, and a gigantic leap from She Loves You and I Want to Hold Your Hand, still only a few months old. Just like with Blackbird, you just sit there and wonder "how can he do that?"

The thing to me about All My Loving is that it sounds like nothing else out at the time. Hell it doesnt even sound like the songs on Meet the Beatles! Or in the UK With The Beatles ( which is the worst record title ever!) It opens accapella and races frenetically with stops and starts unheard of in the music world at that time. One time ok. But 4 times? In radio we call those false endings. You better know the real one!
@KGSnow24 жыл бұрын
@@robjontay5052 I actually like the title "With the Beatles" - it creates a sense of closeness with the fans. You know, when you play this record, you are _with_ the Beatles as they play their songs for you.

the "bass line" here could be played by a monkey. nothing special at all.

The Beatles were heavily influenced by Motown, and a lot of Motown records at the time were using similar techniques.

That is so strange to me. I’ve heard that song so many times and I had no idea that’s how music is made. I can’t hear any part of that when the whole thing is playing. I must be focused on vocals? Interesting!
@AblyHouse4 жыл бұрын
This part is VERY under the mix and I’ve only been able to hear it recently. This is what I assume George played since its what he plays on Ed Sullivan and other live performances. The studio version instrumentation is different and George’s part is barely audible. The solo section was a separate overdub, meaning during the solo there are actually two George parts. There are no isolated tracks for this one so its very hard to hear, the best thing to check out would be the Stereo files. The vocals are only on one track making an instrumental mono version available

So back in 2017 I went LA for vacation and spent most of my time going around music shops looking for Beatle I could never find at home, I managed to play a 325, 360/12, A Country Gentleman and a Hofner, the 325 and the Country were both amazing to play, I played this song on both of them.

For 50 years I've been to play Lennon's triplets accurately, with little success, and now you throw in this. Jeez, thanks a lot. LOL. As others have mentioned, between the terrific composition of the song, McCartney's sublime double-tracked vocals and walking bass line, Lennon's impossible triplets, Harrison's jazz-inflected rhythm and lead, and Ringo's stellar drumming, this track as much as any other explains the lightning-in-a-bottle sound that these guys captured at a time when rock and roll was only perhaps ten years old. It still astonishes me.

did George play the same chords as John through out the song?
@ablyhouseisolated6 жыл бұрын
I think the first three chords are pretty similar. Although, I don't think George hits the high F# in the B chord while John does. George moves to higher inversions for the second half of the verse, at least that's what he does on Ed Sullivan. It's pretty hard to hear George until the guitar solo on the record. We are starting to think George actually played the J160 on this one. The solo doesn't have the same timbre as the record.
@mbinette5 жыл бұрын
David McAnally : I'm pretty sure John plays the rythm track, because he uses the same /16 rythm on "Nobody Told Me", on Milk and Honey.

What is the second cord being played? one guitar looks like it’s at the second fret playing B and the other guitar looks like it’s at the fourth fret I’m not sure what? how come after the solo the images of the hands don’t match exactly the switch flip change on the guitar? And at the very end? Thank you
@ablyhouseisolated5 жыл бұрын
The second chord is a B7. Looks like one time I played from low E to high E, xx444x, one time with my pinky and the other with my first finger at the 4th fret. Not sure of your second question. I usually record the second angle on the bottom right last and use that take for the audio. If I hit a bum note or didn't press a note down all the way, I can grab the noate from the first take and move on.
@JRAFF1453 жыл бұрын
In some recent footage I've seen of John playing live (especially from the new McCartney 3,2,1 release) - it appears John plays a regular B on the 2nd fret. I always thought/heard it was a B7, but I think the point of this whole discussion/this video is that what was played by John/George created an amalgam/unique sound.

hello Ably house! I withdraw what I said, George plays the rickenbacker 420 and John the Gibson J-160 If you hear the song well at minute 0:50 You hear George doing what you do at 0:50 You have to listen well and you will hear it! So that part would be the most accurate! (George plays the exact same thing as John, In the solo part, George uses the Gibson J-160E and John does the solo rhythm with the Gibson j-160E, at minute 0:48 you hear George's Rick But only a little)
@EliteOneTV2 жыл бұрын
Lol, Till there was you was recorded on July of 63 and George got his Rickenbacker 420 on September of 63. But, George used his nylon string classical guitar for lead and Gibson J160 for the solo.
@unmusicosintalento56752 жыл бұрын
Oh right, I was wrong, I use your Ramirez GH Guitar, right? and john the gibson J-150E and George La gibson J-150E, anyway this video is not the correct way, Michael Sokil's is

Is there anywhere I could find the graphs of the chords George plays in the solo? Like how to put my fingers on while I play the solo? I've obviously found the tabs, but it doesn't show the way to lay all of my fingers on the neck.

Just wondering: Who plays the triplets? I always believed it to be George, never thought John reached the technical level to play multistring triplets with such flow.
@AblyHouse4 жыл бұрын
SuperLeica1 - Definitely john, he was proud of it. Watch then do it live, two sullivan show versions. You can see Johns hands better on the second date (silver suits)

Lennon was a very good rhythm player, all the Beatles knew that. George was better at lead hence why he plays lead. But John was always the best rhythm player.

The very first note of the solo is wrong, it should be the 2nd fret of the 5th string (B) not the 4th string. Also in the intro George plays that ascending scale on the 6th string only up to G# (4th fret) and not all the way to A (5th fret) as in the video.
