All-new 2024 Tank 700 Hi4-T - Best High-end Off-road SUV Chinese Mercedes G-Class
The Great Wall Motor‘s Tank 700 off-road SUV with plug-in hybrid powertrain is ready for the sales start in China. Previously, the limited version of this model became available for order in China. This Brand's off-road beast has a 3-liter bi-turbo V6 under the hood for 360 hp that works in pair with an e-motor. Its total power output is 517 hp and 750 Nm.
Tank, a premium off-road brand owned by Great Wall Motor, debuted in 2021 and currently offers three models: Tank 300, Tank 400 Hi4-T, and Tank 500. The brand has plans to introduce two new models, the Tank 700 and Tank 800 SUVs, in the upcoming year. In January of this year, the gasoline variant of the Tank 700 sought approval for sales, but it did not progress to mass production. Apparently, Great Wall Motor opted to release it exclusively as a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) for the domestic market, while the gasoline-powered version will be available for purchase overseas.
The special edition Tank 700 Hi4-T has a large radiator grille, wide fenders, sporty bumpers, and a rear roof spoiler. Its dimensions are 5110/2122/1986 mm with a wheelbase of 3000 mm.
The Tank 700 is positioned as a hardcore off-roader. But its limited edition’s approach and departure angles aren’t that impressive at 22 and 26 degrees, respectively. It rides on 275/50 R22 or 275/60 R22 wheels. The limited edition has wider front and rear tracks: 1800 and 1813 mm. For comparison, the regular version of the Tank 700 Hi4-T has 1742 and 1757-degree front and rear tracks.
The regular Tank 700 Hi4-T has a more modest exterior styling with a smaller grille and bumpers. Its approach and departure angles are impressive, with 32 and 33 degrees, thanks to short bumpers. The regular version of the Tank 700 Hi4-T rides on 275/50 R22 wheels.
Apart from distinct exterior designs and front details, the Tank 700 Hi4-T shares similarities between its limited and mainstream versions. Weighing in at 3,110 - 3,195 kg curb weight, it has a gross weight of 3,630 kilograms. Both versions of this SUV feature five seats, and the Tank 700 has a towing capacity of up to 2,500 kg.
the Tank 700 Hi4-T is equipped with a 3-liter V6 engine generating 360 horsepower. This engine is coupled with an electric motor and a 9HAT, resulting in a combined power output of 517 horsepower for the Tank 700 powertrain. The ternary (NMC) battery, produced by SVOLT, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor, has a yet-to-be-disclosed capacity.
