The reports regarding the demise of the Maxima are highly exaggerated. Although the internal-combustion Maxima is scheduled to end this year, we might expect its electric replacement to arrive soon. We anticipate that it will use the sleek design elements from the 2019 IMs concept, which Nissan described as a "elevated sports sedan." That is quite similar to the name "Toyota Crown" as we perceive it.
Nissan continues to prioritize sedans despite the trend among automakers to prioritize SUVs in their product lineup. Placing a truly advanced electric sedan at the forefront of its range would reinforce the idea that sedans are a permanent fixture in the automotive industry.
Platform
The Maxima EV will be built on Nissan's CMF-EV platform, which also serves as the foundation for the Ariya electric SUV and is jointly used by Renault and Mitsubishi. By 2030, it will function as the foundation for over twelve electric vehicles (EVs).
The Ariya base model produces 214 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. It would not be shocking if an entry-level Maxima had a similar configuration. To align with the Maxima's athletic purpose, it would be desirable to witness the IMs concept's impressive specifications of 483 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque being showcased.
