Nice review from the VW hood. Never seen a car surrounded by so many vehicles from the same brand as the one reviewed. Keep up your the car feeling. You’re all doing a great job.

Danke, Thomas & crew! Thomas, do you think the manufacturers will respond to the criticism of the controls on the steering wheel as you’re pointed out here? The new trend towards the capacitive controls over individual tactile controls seems to me to be a mistake at least from the operators viewpoint. I agree with your comments.

Although there are things I like about this version, overall I think it's a step back from the MK7.5 which I have and am very happy with. A lot of cost cutting is very evident when comparing the MK8 vs. MK7.5 Alltrack. Just happy to have gotten a Golf Alltrack, in a manual transmission even, before VW dropped it from the US market.

Hi, and thanks for the nice review. I'm looking to buy the 2022 Alltrack and I wonder if the dashboard color changed to black. I was only able to see a 2021 Alltrack and I did not like that the dashboard was actually gray and looked bleak... Please let me know if you know. many thanks

Actually the looks of the new golf 8 has started to grow on me. At first I thought it was ugly and underwhelming, but somehow I now find myself liking it more and more..

I still don`t like the long overhang in the front and it`s design. Not sure if it reminds me more of a giant vacuum cleaner or a bowhead whale.

I don’t think I have seen or heard anything positive from any auto reviewers about the trend of buttonless controls in new cars. Hopefully manufacturers will listen and take heed to these criticism and return some of the easier to use knobs and switches. Thomas as always danke.

Hi Thomas, I have a golf 8 myself and I doubt whether the inside of the glove compartment is covered with fabric. I thought I'd look at a video of you guys to see if that's the case, otherwise I'll have to walk to my car. It suddenly strikes me now that you never look at the glove compartment. Was expecting this. Maybe a tip for you?

I own a 2017 MK7 AllTrack in Tornado Red, and I love that car. I really hope they keep brining them to Canada. Im disappointed they removed the real exhaust for fake ones in the new MK8. Also, the window line is much lower, which means passengers in the back dont get the larger windows they used to in the MK7.

Only GTI and R Mk8 are coming to Canada. There won't be even a base MK8 model, let alone wagon. Stupid North American market is killing wagons. There are only just a few left out there. Only boring SUVs are coming.

Back when they came out in 2017 I got my wife a mk7 Alltrack with manual and 1.8T. I liked it so much I got a post dieselgate 2015 Sportwagen TDI with manual. They are really great VWs. I think the mk7 is classier looking than the newer mk8, which we can't buy in the US. I also like that we have traditional dashboards and heater controls. I didn't know you could get Alltracks with the TDI engine and am surprised it only gets 40mpg. In my Sportwagen TDI I get about 47 mpg around town and 55mpg when doing 75mph. The significantly lower fuel economy of this mk8 Alltrack TDI must be due to having the automatic transmission and/or AWD.

Please do the new cupra leon hybrid mentioning charging possibilities/cables, prices per kw, if there's a charging card coming from cupra/seat/vw with a car delivery, possible tires sizes since it comes with 235/35/r19 as standard. Think the whole hybrid and owning experience of that car will be interesting to more than just me. Like, Pros: BAFA 4500euro, cons: high Strompreis etc.

They've made some nice changes from the 2019...mainly cosmetic. Like the mood lighting and front better than the 2019; don't like the new radio display without the dials, though. The blind spot mirror lights are different than the lights behind the mirrors on the 2019, but the lights are still quite easy to see even on a sunny day. I wonder if this will be available in a manual which I have with the 2019. Still looks great...love my wagon!

Hi. I have not found any good reviews yet of the standard version of the variant. I saw a test drive and I heard tire slippage at acceleration and lane changes. It was a noisy cabin and brakes didnt seem to be strong enough. Can you do a review of the standard version? I understand you are busy but I ask anyway:).

@@BrateTebra123 As far as I can see, Porsche got it on Panamera the same year Kia got it on Ceed GT. And they don't even look the same. Not even the position. Kia made the right decision to put it in the headlight instead of as "foglights/DRL" on the old Ceed. I owned the new Ceed for a year.

Hallo Thomas! Thanks for this nice review, I just got one of these off the shelf. The specific features of the Alltrack are not descirbed in the manual they just copied the Variant manual so lazy! Maybe you can help or know where to ask? Hint the dealer and so far the internt does not know 🙄 - Whats the actual groundclearence, aproach departure breakover angles? - In drive mode (individual) you can set the allweehldrive from comfy to sport, does that make it transfer power to the back quicker or even something like a permanent 50/50? - How does the DSR (downhil speed regulation) work? It's not comming on automatically like is said when in Offroad mode. Would be realy tahnkfull for a quick reply, Alex @autogefuehl

Unfortunately, there aren't many US consumers who share that sentiment. The Alltrack wasn't withdrawn from the US market because of strong sales. Quite the opposite.

@@JChurchua 2019 Mk7.5 Alltrack is so dated imo. Very 2013 looking, especially on the interior. It’s partly why I went with the Tiguan in 2018 over the alltrack even though the alltrack drove much better.

IT is definitely a good car But: Passat Alltrack is even better and if the price difference for the Golf is less than 15% I would definitely go to Passat . Besides, Seat Leon is cheaper and has an hybrid version.

I don't know why they gave the alltrack the GTI foglamps/daytimes and front bumper as well, seems to dilute the look of the GTI if it just looks like another golf like this alltrack.

The variant length is actually 35 longer then hatchback, not 45. Also, you said the alltrack suspension clearance is 20mm higher then normal variant. Actually it additionally has 1 inch bigger wheels in diameter, which gives 12.7 mm of additional clearance. But overall clearance should be 175mm (35mm higher than normal version).

In 2021 Golf 8 Alltrack cost in Poland almost 10000 EUR more than in 2018 (Golf 7 Alltrack). Not good VW. Beside that nice car , fast on motorways, good on slippery mountain roads.

Aha das Auto ist leise bei 100 km/h...was soll uns das sagen? Aussagen über die Güte der Geräuschdämmung lassen sich erst bei 130, 160 oder höher treffen. Bei 100 km/h sind fast alle Autos erträglich.

Two main issues I see right of the bat, the front is ugly. Infotainment and electronics sliders and "buttonfree" controls seams rly bad.

Very disappointed that the back seat doesn't fold FLAT. My Saab 9-5 Estate does, and microfiber is pure toxic junk, made from recycled plastic. How's that going to hold up in hot humid climates? Also, it holds moisture, ala humidity PATHETIC
