My theory is... Nico was a man who founded a mall once. Nico was passionate about his business, and opened up several more malls. He changed his malls name from Nico's Botmall to NN_Mall (Nico Next Mall) He founded an entire company named Nico's corporation.. But one day, he started an *experiment.* He tried to make "Business Bots" as he called them, so humans didn't have to work for him anymore. But the bots became evil. They corrupted Nico. They made him see the true, "Potential" of his power. He made more and more bots every day, and his army slowly became more powerful. But he didn't want everyone to know *yet.* So he trapped all the bots in one mall. But he didn't close it down. The bots mercilessly slaughtered anyone who walked in the doors. The "Next" in NN_Mall had a meaning. What would come *Next?* A teenage urban explorer walked in one day, years after the place became abandoned. He was chased by the Aheno nextbot, and once he found refuge "Upstairs," he wrote some notes about it. The "Messenger" is trying to protect all the humans from the nextbots, with his "Bridge." And that's where the "Saferooms" are from. N.E.X.T.B.O.T. Nico's Essential (Redacted) "Trainees" Behind Overall "Testing." What is the testing on you might ask? The testing is on how to turn humans.. Into nextbots. that's all the writing i can do today, later.

A casual funny survival game getting lore was really unexpected i’d say, but i like it :) Also, explanation of the ‘butterfly effect’ Imagine this : you woke up in the morning, it’s almost time for work but you decide to sleep *5 more minutes.* After you finally get up you’re gonna be late for work and you’re in a hurry. you’re still not quite awake yet and didn’t see a truck coming, you wake up in a hospital, the guy who hit you with the truck apologized and offered you a job in his company because he felt bad. You now work in his company doing really well, promotion after promotion you were now Second only to the guy, after years the owner had passed away and you were now CEO. In summary the smallest decisions make the biggest effects. you accomplished all that because you slept *5 more minutes*

I like the idea of this game having a backstory more so than lore. As long as it doesn't go too deep and just explains what the nextbots are and how they got in the mall then I'm fine.

My theory is that the SafeZones are in place due to another organization that is combating Nico's Corporation, and that this whole thing with the mall is similar to The Backrooms or SCP-3008, both of which are areas that you can enter, but is nearly impossible to exit. This other organization is also related to the Messenger, as they both may be holding the SafeZones together. The Messenger may also be a god in a literal sense.

You want theories? I’ll give you theories.. The Map: The mall lures people, mostly teenagers, into the abandoned mall for documenting (probably to be used in social media, lol) Nico’s Corp: As shown, Nico’s Corp must be a video game making corporation, so when the messenger says “so far from home” the wanderers are trapped in a television screen, a simulation, if you will. Another dimension. Nextbots: If the theory that they are trapped in the coded realm is true, this should mean the cursed PNG’s would come from the Internet, as all nextbots features do. B.R.I.D.G.E.: Against Nico’s Corp, they create safe spots, where the Nextbots can’t get in. This is probably due to a protective file, requiring a passcode blocking unwelcome visitors (the Nextbots) and the passcode being a code, only available to those who aren’t meant to be there, like they are the special password to it. No clue what it stands for, though. (Someone once said “BEGONE, REDACTED, I DON’T GLEE EVERYONE” but I have no clue what they mean, either) The Woman and the Butterflies: The woman might be one of the first “game tester’s” in the Beta Version of Nico’s Nextbots. They’ve been here so long they want to escape, not sensing the thrill video games like NN have on you. They probably use the terms of Butterflies because they start, stop, and evolve. (Live, Encounter, Escape with new knowledge) Blackouts: A glitch in the system, maybe Nico’s Corp stopping production and slowing due to their sucsess. Maybe attempts to escape (like how the Woman wants to, probably) by going into places they shouldn’t, and going beyond the 1s and 0s. A shutdown needed to put them back or fix something. The Backrooms: Nico’s Corp probably added this to their game because it was the hot horror topic of the time. Conclusion: I probably missed somethings but I got lazy and will add back to this later. But this is it for now.

My theory is that NC created the mall and its anomolous properties, which are the nextbots and something attracting mostly teenagers to the mall and Bridge is trying to reverse the effect that NC has done. Also, I think that in the future we will be able to communicate through the radio with NC and the messenger. Possibly the teenager that got (possibly) lured into the mall could be the son of the messenger

I think what they meant by "bridge" are interdimensional spaces split and put into each other. Like the whole room is in a whole nother dimension but it appears it isnt.

the august 5th was bc of time zones we were talking about the code thingy and messenger confirmed blood moon was coming, but after a while about half the text got deleted and later, messenger came back, got cut off, and later everything got deleted even the developers weren't involved

Theory : the bridge is like a maybe gateway portal that was something like async with the backrooms that connects the real world to an alternative universe of the mall so maybe the safe zones are the real world that the nextbots may be afraid of or just can’t enter or so

I believe the Blood Hour / Blood Moon would be something like the Blackout event but rather outside the mall. We know that there's gonna be a map outside so maybe the Blood Moon contributes to that specific map?

Random theory: all nextbots are followed with some sorta audio. The safe rooms have calm and none distorted or disturbing music. My guess is because of the music. Nextbots cant go in.

I believe that the abandoned mall is in some kind of parallel universe of another mall. In this parallel universe they have the nextbots roaming around while in the other universe it is an open mall that is still run down due to most stores closing. The bridge could be the area in which the realities meet and the entering and exiting of the safe reality and the dangerous reality.

My theory is : Nico's corp was created probably in the mid 90s then started to builds mall in the late 90s in a location where it will get popularity by puting ads as a way to get visits. The first nextbots were created during the construction of the mall and was hidden somewhere in the mall when it was finished until then, Nico's Corp had sinister plans on how to leave no trace of people inside the mall which will be abandoned later on. The nextbot broke out sooner and started to kill everybody in proximity and evaporating the bodies. July 6, 1994: 103 people went missing all at once in a unknown mall that was closed. August 3, 2000 , a 19 year boy went missing during the proximity of the abandoned mall. He woke up to see that he was in a mall that's no longer in business he searched if anybody's in the mall as he went to a corner in the ground parking lot he saw a white sparkle running to to him which was aheno he ran and ran until he got to a safe zone. (Gonna update it more)

My theory about the Nextbots are as follows The Nextbots were the first things that Nico Incorporated created to roam around the Mall at night but then the Nextbots started to go crazy and kill people so they tried to keep them safe or even destroy them but then the Nextbots escaped and killed all the people there except the remaining survivors (those being us who play it) hid from them and decided to try and survive the Nextbots but can’t But I don’t know, that’s just a theory of mine

well, my theory is: only corporations were experimenting to create weapons, creatures or something like that (the nextbots), and they needed test subjects to test it, so they took people to a shabby mall (which would be where they were creating the nextbots) , but the experiments went wrong, and the people had to stay there. for some reason, all the people who died were revived in the safe rooms (which would be where they woke up in the mall), and the messenger was one of the experiments that went wrong. basically the nextbots were real people, and the messenger was supposed to be a nextbot that went wrong and is now helping people survive and possibly run away from it. the radio woman is a survivor who managed to escape, she would also be a nextbot gone wrong. After she escaped, she managed to get in touch with the radios in the safe rooms (which would play music to calm the test subjects), sending coded messages for someone to find out and escape. the radio woman died somehow, and left the messages looping on the radios. the blood night (which is actually a real in-game event) is an event that takes place at the mall, in which the mall's systems short circuit or something. that's all of my theory, i'm not good at creating theories so don't judge me if it doesn't make sense. that's it, bye

The bridge is the save rooms and the woman that "cannot cross" the bridge is the nextbot. Possibly aheno nextbot. The "god" of the game claims that during the blood moon, he felt like there was different versions of him which are the different nextbots we have today.

Theory: when its saying thier circumstances and the woman have been removed. i think its relating to Laura the deleted nextbot. and that NC was using Laura as the ghost but then went horribly wrong and turned into a nextbot and what NC was trying to copy was scp 3008 and that they are simaler. and the saferooms were made by bridge so the investigators would be safe in there but not all the time. some rooms can have saferooms and that we have to just stay alive until Bridge finds out a way to take down the nextbots. So bassicly its a war between NC and bridge. and thats all i have.

I have a theory for the Nicos corporation. Nicos corporation is secretly a science corporation and was making theyre New project called "Nextbots". The nextbot they tried to create First was called Aheno, But it went horribly wrong. One of the scientists got Killed in the process. Then they didnt know what to do with the nextbot, so they created a mall called "Nicos Mall" and they put the nextbot there and then they started creating more nextbots. I have a theory about the “cocoon” and the bridge. The cocoon is the mall and the players are the “butterflies” in it. I think the mall will break out and that is how we will get to gm_Russia (implying the fact that the mall and gm_Russia are not related or close) The expansions of the mall is just the cocoon growing. here's my theory of the phrases "butterfly" and "cocoon" as used in the lore of this game. Butterfly: you are the butterflies inside this giant cocoon cocoon: the mall is the cocoon, and if you escape, you break free from it.
