When it comes to elections, the power of the Black vote cannot be understated. Black voter turnout plays a crucial role in shaping political power and policies that are beneficial to marginalized communities. Understanding the impact of historical voter suppression and recognizing the pivotal role of Black voters, particularly in key states like Texas and Pennsylvania, is essential in driving social change and advocating for political representation.
Roland Martin spoke with Gary Chambers, advocate, Entrepreneur, and strategist; and Dr. Robert "Biko" Baker, visiting Assisstand Professor at the University of Milwakee about dwindling Black voter participation and the forces being put into play to push the numbers even lower ahead of the 2024 election.

I think blacks hold the Democrats accountable, on not being straight and honest, but guess what this is going to be devastated no matter who you listen to, if you don't vote your absent votes goes towards the racist, crooked, corrupt party, you see it dies matters we just have to use common sense, either way it goes to hurting ourselves because ain't no Republicans going to give no blacks reparations ever. This is their plan to wait to see when the majority of us refuse to vote, Trump has warned us if we don't vote vote this time, it will be the last time that America has to vote, we have to use reverse psychology on them. Show them that their plans didn't work, how you like us now. No we can't give up what we already have we have to continue to fight, don't give up, may the strong survive. My brother was shot in the back for running away from cops because he was scared. They couldn’t catch up to him so they shot him in the back, then when they caught up to him they proceeded to beat the sh*t out of him. This has been goin on since the beginning of time. This happened in the’70’s! He was the “1st” person to be interviewed for a documentary on police brutality! What’s changed? Not a damn thing! 30 years later, my bff was hit by a police officer who hit HER in an intersection of two major streets! His back up came and wrote HER the ticket! They destroyed HER discovery - street cam, dash cam and body cam, but the cop who walked up to her totaled vehicle, (his back up), well MAGICALLY HIS BODY CAM WORKED!??! They never showed up for court 3x! So the judge defaulted in HER favor so the bs ticket was thrown out. But her life has changed drastically since, as she can BARELY walk due to her injuries. Do you think her atty flubbed up her lawsuit by accident so she couldn’t sue, or do you think some other nefarious thing happened. She is NOT giving up. They are going to pay one day.

There’s some ignorant young black folks out there that don’t know history. I had some fool tell me that I was guilting black people into voting when I said that people fought and died for them to have a seat at the table and they’re just walking away table because the table isn’t perfect. Some are saying they’re not going to vote unless reparations are passed, but don’t consider that they have to get the people in place to support reparations, they have to play the long term game, like the opposition does. They need to understand you have to play the game with the cards you’re dealt not the cards you wished you had, because not voting because each candidate isn’t perfect at all times because the opposition will lie, cheat and steal to get their way.

Black voter turnout is a critical topic during elections and the reason why the turnout is low is due to two factors. One, our country is very polarized and young black people are cover stimulized by social media, all the things that are going on in their lives. In short they are more focused on money, jobs, and advancement. They are Fast racking to put themselves in a better position in life than the previous generations of African Americans. Therefore they are not paying attention to the facts of what is happening in America and they are letting the government deal with concerns that they do not have time to deal with. Second, they feel unheard and respected because they think that today's issues are from an era long since forgotten and their issues which reflects the current problems are not being addressed. The issues facing African Americans fifty years ago are the same ones facing young African Americans today but they feel that their issues are not related or connected to them.
