I get the feeling there's stuff about Jim that Mick disagrees with. I was watching a video showing their live rigs and guitars. Mick commented something about there's no need to have a million guitars like some people do and when Jim was showing his rig he mentioned that he uses a million guitars. Corey said that the members of Slipknot for the most part just put up with each other. Whenever they see each other in public they basically ignore one another.
@apple_with_a_human_butt
@apple_with_a_human_butt Жыл бұрын
@@-M_- afaik they've discribed their relationship as being professional colleagues who know their ways and strenghts on a professional level. Jim has said that they 'just know' how to each of them would write, or what part of a song would fit them the best and who should write what part etc. but they don't hang out or have a deeper friendship beyond their work. that said, there's no animosity or whatever. they're just not 'friends' outside of slipknot. but i think jim said that he finds mick as the easiest to work with, in the band. you also gotta think of the dynamics and their different personalities. mick is a very strict, very technical and protocol driven guy. whereas jim is from a family of hippies and he's a bit more relaxed and spontaneous with everything. jim is also mostly self taught whereas mick once even taught guitar to students in des moines. think of jamie hyneman and adam savage.

@Alex19II 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they have different picking techniques: Mick has great attack, Jim has weak attack. It’s hilarious that people in comments hypothesize how unique they are, while only difference is: strong guitarist vs. weak, illustrative example.
@Noided88815
@Noided88815 3 жыл бұрын
@@Alex19II you have no idea what you're talking about. Jim has a more effeciant picking style, allowing him to play incredibly fast solos and other leads. Mick has more attack because he's a rhythm based guitarist, and the mix requires a heavier attack on the rhythm front. You're obviously not a guitar player and if you are, you're just jealous that Jim is infinitely better than you will ever be.
@Alex19II
@Alex19II 3 жыл бұрын
When you play riffs, you HAVE to attack normally. Not flabbily rub a pick around the string. He also anchors fingers of right hand to guitar body and sometimes attacks near neck pickup. It’s all mistakes leading to his signature lame sound. But power of Mick saves and masks everything.
@LAPD92
@LAPD92 Жыл бұрын
any guitarist who is not deaf and is capable of playing a "simple" riff clearly and with articulation would say that Jim is weak and sloppy "guitarist". I can not realise how it is possible that a lot of guys here in comments can not hear this. The only explanation is that they are even worse "guitarists" than Jim. And Mick is really great.

I own the Jim Root Jazzmaster V4 and its pretty much the same. The body is probably the biggest of all my guitars and on jim it looks like regular size.
