1930... when they made this movie, they had no idea this was only going to be the second worst war they'd ever see.

While it is flawed by today's standard in terms of effect, the story it delivered far outpaced the remake. At least it felt like an adapted recollection of a soldier rather than a dramatized version made for cinema.it's not bad for a war movie, but it pales when compared to the original

It was all made by ww1 veterans, they know what they’re making, they Just didn’t have the technology, though if they did, the movie woudve been worse and brutal than the 2022 version

Watched this movie yesterday for the first time and it was great but i had one big issue. The whole point of this movie is to show the rest of the world how german soldiers are not the evil tryants that the government and officials are. Its meant to show how they are just young kids coerced into entering the war and that they feel the same pain and torture we feel. But that message isnt conveyed as well when the german soldiers act like americans, talk like americans and speak english with an american accent.
