I'm always "afraid" of watching new reactors finding Dreamcatcher since a lot of ppl out there tend to overhype & lie about liking every song, but I'm really glad you're being honest and saying your thoughts about why you don't vibe with a certain song etc, now I'm more excited for your future reactions as I can see you're not one of those ppl that is afraid of saying what they like & don't like, appreciate it.

Thank you, as I get more subscribers and gain more knowledge about KPop I do hope to make reviews/breakdowns a bigger part of the reactions and as you said, not every part of every song is going to vibe with everyone! I usually don't post the reactions where I don't really enjoy the songs, but I think as long as I explain and say things constructively, there's a place for those conversations! @@ChainReactionsChannel yeah insomnias tend to be an older fan base 😅 do don't feel you need to kiss blank on every song. you can totally hate on a song and we'll be ok with it because dreamcatcher's discography touches every single genre so there's no way you can like everything unless you are just a big fan of music in general. btw your name pronunciation is pretty darn close. just keep in mind most korean names are 2 syllables so here's a rough guide to their names: jiu = gee-you sua = sue-ah siyeon = she-yeon(you can get away with saying yeon=yawn) handong = hann-doong(you had it right but if you want to get really accurate drag the n and o slightly) yoohyeon = harder since it's technically split yoo-hyeon but the h kinda gets carried forward to yoo so "yooh-yeon" dami = dah-me gahyeon - same with yoohyeon, the h kinda carries forward so gah-yeon there's other nuisances like korean d sounds more like a t and g more like a k but the above is fine for non-koreans lol

@@ivyshy98 Thank you! I do genuinely love music enough that I can find something to like/appreciate even if it isn't 'for me.' Like I don't typically like the EDM-style dance break but their vocals were beautiful outside of that. and if they do choreo for it I'm sure it would be dope! I'll never hate on a song but I will say if it has elements or a sound I don't vibe with, so I appreciate you (and InSomnia) being open minded and understanding of that. That being said the rest of the EP is absolutely my vibe lol. Thank you so much for the pronunciations! Of course I will struggle and probably never get it 100% right but I will try getting as close as an English speaker can. Feel free to continue correcting me as I learn. Thank you for watching!

I do love all their songs. Each and every song. There are always least favourite, but i still love it all. Sleep-walking is my least favourite at the bottom of the list just because Handong back then was just like a backup dancer. But the song itself is good. I do understand not all people will like all their songs. Everybody has their own taste. But personally, Dreamcatcher has it all for me. They are the only one that caters all my taste in music. So far, they haven't disappoint.

Their music since 2021 hasn't really followed typical kpop roles. For instance, SuA, Gahyeon, Dami and Handong aren't even lead vocalists but get high notes and choruses which is rare for sub vocalists (considered weaker than the main and lead vocalist) because they are that good. Siyeon is the main vocalist and is therefore the one who did like 90% of their high notes till 2020, now she gets to relax a bit on songs, especially since she now shares a lot of the main vocal responsibilities with Yoohyeon, one of the 2 lead vocalists (the other is JiU). Their choreo is also usually a mix of masculine and feminine moves. Chase me is 3 minutes of dynamic changes with barely any rest, Endless night is mostly just hip hop, red sun is smooth and feminine, Shatter is strong and controlled but also really graceful. In fact, Siyeon was the only one who could sing a proper rock part without hurting her voice till 2021 and then the other girls started training in rock vocals which led to them dropping Reason (third fan song), followed by rising which is full of rock oriented vocals. These girls have grown into all rounder performers so rapidly that you cannot actually follow the group roles given to them. Non dancers Siyeon, Yoohyeon, Gahyeon and Handong who? We don't know them. And that isn't even getting into how amazing it is watching them perform live regardless of whether they have choreo or not. I would HIGHLY recommend checking out the Break the wall performance from their apocalypse broken halloween Seoul concert. Adding name guides- G-You (real name kim minji) Soo-Ah (real name Kim Bora) Lee She-Yawn Han Dong Kim You-Hyawn Daah-me (real name Lee Yubin) Lee Gah-yun (g is pronounced like k as in Kahyun)

Honestly I love that they don't follow the role system because I never really understood it haha! Plus they all seem to sing, and dance well so it's just about talent and making dope songs/videos. I'm not saying this because I'm a fan of Dreamcatcher. Both the title and the included songs are really good. So I ended up liking them the most. If you want to know more, I recommend starting with the debut song. Each album has a story. It is also not just a love song, but also a meaningful song about environmental protection and cyber-verbal violence. It's a genre I don't really like in K-pop, but I'm still doing it. It is a girl group with a unique concept even in Korea. I swear if you keep responding to their music you won't be disappointed.

11:16 pretty good pronunciation, actually! The only thing is that Siyeon's romanized name is a trap. In Korean any syllable that would sound like our letter 'C' is actually pronounced with an "sh". So like "Si", "Syu", "Syo" = "shee", "shoo", "show"

Yeah like she-yawn, and romanization is pretty terrible. If you want to be the most how they pronounce their own names as possible, toss a light H sound in the center of Yoohyeon and Gahyeon's names. Just whatever breathieness is comfortable because Gayeon or Yooyeon without any H sound are different letters in Korean making different words/names. Same road, going light on the S, D, and G in SuA, Dongie, Dami, and Gahyeon; when they say their names it almost sounds like Tami or Kahyeon. A strong, bursty S, G or D is also a different letter in Korean making a different word and turns Dong into the word for poop.

Happy with the honest review, as an insomnia who has been with the girls since their debut there’s been songs I don’t particularly like. But even so i always appreciate them trying out different genres in their bsides and I feel every song to me has been well-made even that ones I didn’t particularly like. To me, I didn’t quite enjoy shatter when I first listened to it surprisingly. So it’s all good if you don’t like the song due to its genre or just the song itself. Thanks for being honest and for the great review; I’m glad you enjoyed the EP. (Although my favorite genre dreamcatcher does is rock, I think their edm style of music is my second favorite but that’s just might be because I had edm phase when I was in middle school.)

I think I have to be in the right mood for EDM, it's not that it's 'bad' just isn't my typical sound. I also think I just like bigger/vocal choruses and dance breaks are only cool if I see them dancing haha. I also think I liked the other songs so much I was comparing it against those so that might have been part of it. That being said their vocals in the verses were great so I can still appreciate that! they in their bsides have a lot of combination of music, not just rock, they really have like all kind of music for every person, it’s amazing! I really did want to see your reaction to Rising. I see this song as a sequel to the b side Break the Wall, another b side I would recommend is Mayday. Also, Shatter is based on the Medusa myth, which will become clearer in the performance version(s). Dami is the main rapper - her most iconic raps are in Boca and Maison. In the early Dreamcatcher SuA would also rap early on, but then disappeared as a rapper for awhile. Gahyeon started rapping with Piri, Scream and Boca. In a recent fan song, Reason, all three of them rapped.

Dreamcatcher are the standard when it comes to transitions in choreographies. The amount they actually travel around the dance floor is very impressive, and their choreo's tend to always be to a very fast beat compared to most girl groups

Yoohyeon calls Shatter the unofficial title track of the album for a reason. I did not like it THAT much at first but it did outgrow Rising for me and I have never even guessed it was possible. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ed2oa6-Fp5-0d30.html The absolute must next step is checking out the official dance video (they do not even call it special clip) It is one of their most artistic choreography, for me similar level to Red Sun (you WILL know what it means soon enough). That Medusa concept, seeing the medusa hair formation, hearing the rattling within the song, seeing the biting ripple and feeling the abrupt end as she turns into stone. Also the desperation in JiUs prayer and Siyeon "Birds, swallow me, let me climb into the sky" Full body chills....

Jeeyoo Sooah Sheeyun Hahndhong Yoohyun Dhahmee Gahhyun Let me know if anything isn't clear. I'm using h a couple different ways. Dh means the consonant sound at the start of the word 'the' ah means the vowel sound in ha ha ha like if you were to say the words that represent laughing hy means the consonant form of h and the consonant y are both pronounced all other single vowels are in their 'short' form, double vowels are obviously in the long form

The second way of pronouncing Jiu and the way you pronounced Sua are already bang on. I agree it's tricky, there's several rules your still missing. I guess if I can only pick a couple to focus on, it would be 'Sh' sound at the start of Siyeon's name rather than 'S', and pronounce both the 'h' and 'y' consonants when they appear together in Yoohyeon and Gahyeon. If you do that it's like 80-90% there, those feel important and not too hard.@@ChainReactionsChannel

One of the “ quirks” of Korean is that an S next to an I is always pronounced “she” there are a few other times it makes a Sh sound instead of an S but that gets into a whole language lesson to explain and it makes more sense visually to explain it.

I like Rising the most, with OOTD a moderately distant second. Shatter I can appreciate, but it's not a playlist song for me. We Are Young is fine when I'm in that mood, but otherwise I like it only for those vocal harmonies in the second verse.

The last song on their albums are almost always a slow song or brighter than the rest of the album. Tends to be the least favorites for most of the fandom but not bad songs by any means. I personally just have to be in a specific mood to really enjoy them.

The music on the last track is similar to 80s Schlager Music. The German group Modern Talking did this style. Electric Callboy have a track Hurrikan and they pay homage to that style of music. Amazing video which has a shock surprise. You got the names very close. The best out of any Reactor. Siyeon is pronounced with a silent h after the S. Gayhyeon can be pronounced the same but the G should be pronounced as a K. You will love their back catalogue. The most unique group in K-Pop. Love the reaction.

Oh my I agreed with everything you said here, that was mostly my reaction to this album :D, I do think something was missing in We are young, for me at least, because they have done amazing songs by the same vibe and I absolutely adore those, I listen to them all the time but first time I listened to this one I was a biiit underwelmed, it has grown on me though and it will be nice to see you check their other songs and see if you like them better. It's also ofc a matter of preferences, a friend told me he loved the song a lot so, but still this album for me is incredible and I'll be listening to it for a long time

dreamcatcher \:D/ usually the last song on their albums are ballads of some type and you can somewhat call we are young an edm ballad. their ballads are in general for/about their fans, insomnias, and often have uplifting themes. they have a fair number of edm tracks which aren't my cup of tea either but if you go to their concerts you'd understand why :D

Love seeing you check out more Dreamcatcher! I think We are Young is probably the weakest song for me on the album just because of the empty chorus but as others have said, it's going to be insane live, which is probably the point. DC does a good bit of touring, and they perform 22ish songs in each concert, so this gives them one more banger tour song to pull from. As others have said, the dance video for Shatter is a must watch. It's fantastic. There's also live performances from their showcase for OOTD, Shatter, & Rising if you wanted to check out some live stuff.
