On my one month trip to Italy I planned a visit to Lucca which unintentionally coincided with All Saints Day. Me being unaware how Halloween and All Saints Day is celebrated in Italy got a full taste of the traditions of these festivities.
All Saints Day being a public holiday was also the first day of Lucca Comics & Games (believe this is something similar to Comic Con).
Anyway, the crowds were maddening and the purpose of my visit was totally changed. I had gone to Lucca for peace and quiet. I wanted to experience the quiet fortified medieval town in its pristine state but instead what I got was very creative people dressed in costumes, lots of games and the whole of Lucca having a jolly time.
It was not something that I usually like but I did experience Lucca in a different way 😊
