It's tough to have a target 🎯on your back! Tom Slingsby Driver of Australia SailGP Team is a #3peat season winner of SailGP. I'm glad that no one was hurt. I'm a fan of SailGP #sailgp. I love watching the racing on SailGP Live!Hopefully, I can watch the finals in San Francisco next month!😊🤙

I would say that at 1:27, there was definitely a button push. Now, whether that was the invert button, or whether it was a different one and there was an issue that caused the invert button to activate when that was pushed, I don't know. But there was clearly a button push.

It definitely looked like a button push. I wonder if we'll get to see the true data record on this. I can't imagine these boats can complete an electrical circuit/command without a physical button push.

Yeah and later he tries to push the same button again to invert the sail back, so I would suggest that it is the invert button that was pushed.

That said the original push looked kind of deliberate, like he looked down at the console, so maybe the problem had already happened by this point and he was trying to undo it.

@@MrLambertinho I went over and watched this old video (from 5 years ago) on the F50 simulator kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n9ihdrmLtZjamaM.htmlsi=Yj7xA1c59R0xfyUh&t=81 , and I think what we are seeing the Australian trimmer adjust at 1:27 may be the wing twist lever, which has been relocated from what we see in the simulator to be more conveniently located. When the wing inverts, it looks as though he is reaching for the bottom wing invert button (Invert Stbd, according to the sim). So my guess is that the control panel did in fact malfunction when the trimmer went to adjust the twist. From Tom's interview, they apparently had issues with that controller in the previous race. So when Slingsby says "no one touching the button", he's correct, but they touched another control on the pad which somehow activated the invert control. Just bad luck it seems.

They said it was a faulty button panel

Bit weird giving so much air time to a technical failure that is the fault of the organizers. HEY LOOK......we are incompetent!!! AMAZING. Again like the failure to launch Sail GP need to accept responsibility instead of blaming other people.

There was a lot of media on the US capsize as well. It's a very visible demonstration of just how on the knife's edge these boats are. It's easy to forget how hard they are to sail when everything goes right.

People love a spectacle and media knows it obviously. Being new to sailGP these videos...this one in particular gives some insight into how these boats work (or don't) i saw the capsize live and wondered what caused it and how they would right the boat. Do all the crew jump on the dagger board? 😂. Anyway in these clips the mystery was solved.
