All The Basses 007: Guyatone EB-25 Vintage Shortscale Bass // Serek Basses

All the Basses is a side project dedicated to showcasing some of the perhaps lesser known basses of years gone by. I do not claim to be a bass historian, I merely want to highlight some of the more interesting aspects of these instruments, and to showcase their tonality.
The Guyatone EB-25 drew me in with its Jazz-bass-like looks in a compact package, but the similarities end there. This thin-necked oddball features a single humbucker, funky chrome covers, a bolt-on maple neck, and...well...that's about it!

The bass was recorded direct through a Scarlett 2i2 and a mic'd Aguilar SL-112 paired with my GK MB Fusion 800.

Sounds pretty good! A bit Gibson-like with the humbucker and short scale but not as dark

Alot of early japanese basses have that odd thing to their sunburst finishes where the contour has no sunburst on it, my ibanez silver series jazz bass has that on it.

@Serek Basses Hey, there is a product sheet I'd really like translated for a rare bass I also own. Any places you'd recommend that might be able to translate Japanese to English? Been watching more of your videos lately, heard of Serek for a couple months but when I found out its a small handmade operation it helped motivate me to take designing and building instruments more seriously. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey thanks for the kind words! Try Google Translate, there is a camera function that will translate in real time whatever you point your phone's camera to. I should have done that before I made this video!
