I also don’t understand the Pam hate. She’s not a perfect (fictional) person, but she grows so much throughout the show. Her goodbye to Michael was amazing.
@justinhogg388417 күн бұрын
I think people mistake her growth for becoming kind of a snobby bitch as time progresses. I can see both sides, but really I think she just grew a backbone and was tired of peoples shit after she secured Jim.

I think because she is pretty two faced and immature
@taxicorky17 күн бұрын
Except she's neither.. she's kind, empathic, unselfish and is always the one to stop people from doing stupid things. She starts out shy and introvert but grows more assertive over time. She's not perfect but she represents the viewer as one of the most sane people along with Jim in that office @@johnwayne8494

Something you may not have noticed is that Phillys gave some mittens to Michael way back in season 2 in the Christmas exchange. And Michael was a jerk about it because he wanted an iPod. Here, Michael makes up for it, appreciating the mittens even though they weren’t even finished

There's still a lot of things to enjoy about this show moving forward, but it's definitely never the same without Michael, imo. I think it's definitely worth continuing, but if you find yourself dropping off at some point, it's a show worth re-watching at some point. I've rewatched it probably 6 times now and it makes you laugh every single time

The little head nod from Jim and Dwight when Micheal left symbolises how they will carry the rest of the show, also when Dwight says “oh,no” and the camera is on those 2.

All through the week of shooting this episode, various cast and crew would have tears. John Krasinski psyched himself up not to cry during his final scene with Steve in Michael's office, and immediately started sobbing as soon as "Action" was called. It took him and Carell 17 takes to get that scene done, as neither one of them could make it through without crying.

Great sendoff for Michael Scott. Post-breakup Gabe is scary. D'Angelo is a mess.
@ddiamondr116 күн бұрын
Yes, this really got you in the feels. Jenna Fisher said that they exchanged their love for each other as friends during the airport goodbye. When they were shooting the pilot, Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fisher became close. Steve Carrell saw them laughing with each other, and said to them that even if the show didn’t continue, the most important thing was the friendship they gained. Their Office Ladies podcast is absolutely great. As is their book about The Office.

Such an amazing episode that it’s insane to me how bad the final scene with Will Farrell eating the cake and screaming at it is. Dwight and Jim literally saying uh oh is like such a meta bad way to end this era when fans were already worried about the show without Michael 😭
@jerodast17 күн бұрын
His scene with Andy I thought "oh, this is a little much, but hey, Michael's gotten lost in a misguided bit too at times, and this is pretty funny - the kind of funny Will Ferrell does well! Is this actually his best episode?" Then came the cake scene. I forgot it was JUST after Michael left...definitely NOT his best episode. You are right on about the meta.

I really don't think the dip in quality hits until next season. Even without Michael the rest of this season is solid, especially the two part finale and the episode before that. Some of the best Creed moments of the whole show. There was a good amount of turnover on the writing/production side between the end S7 and the beginning of S8 so it's not even just that Steve's gone, several things feel different. There are still solid moments and it's absolutely worth it to finish the series, but it will feel a bit different

I like the rest of it. I hope you continue the whole thing. Don't get turned off. In fact, the second half of season 9 is very fun IMO.

This was a good way to send Micheal off plus they got the feeling of him having second thoughts abt leaving perfect. I remember back in summer 2018 my friend told me to give this show a chance but don’t get attached to Micheal but I love the fact that my friend told me to give this show a chance and when Micheal left I was kinda upset although I only knew Micheal for like a week b/c I binged this whole series in one week and weekend 😂

When I first watched this, I didn’t know Michael had left the show in real life and was expecting him to reappear at some point. Sadly, I don’t really recall much of the last seasons because of this. Show definitely ended when Michael left

I know a lot of people stop watching after Michael leaves, which is so weird to me. Season 8 is a little odd, but it brings in one of my favorite characters and season 9 is actually one of my favorites as a whole. Yes, Michael was amazing ofc, but because we had him, a lot of other characters weren't given the screen time they deserve. In season 8 and 9 we get so much more of them and i love it.

It's def not awful moving forward - it loses a little magic because Micael can be the worst and the best at the same time, and now you need multiple characters to take on that role - but the writing is still solid, and there are still new characters to look forward to!

This should’ve been the last episode of the show. Don’t even have to get rid of the Will Ferrell cake scene at the end because it shows Dunder Mifflin will be stuck in a constant cycle of bad/unhinged bosses.

@a-a-rondavis943816 күн бұрын
Nope. They tied up a bunch of loose ends with character development and storyline completion, they fleshed out relationships and then actually...**SPOILERS** they showed the documentary release and what that meant for the company, showed a (one year later) episode, etc. Maybe they drawn it out for the entire 8th and 9th seasons, but I actually like the extra time spent on the Office. It shows that the show is actually viable without Michael, and it gave a lot of closure to the story.
@Shawn-id7gc16 күн бұрын
I guess I have to do some editorial work here. The Hot Take was about how many retroactively went back after the show was over. It was Snark and in fun. I give Jimmy credit for probably getting it. Some of you it went over your head.

Sucks for you then. I bet you have a lot of conjecture and head canon for the entire next two seasons, instead of just watching it. Michael was NOT the entire show.
@shahriachowdhury955216 күн бұрын
@@a-a-rondavis9438 Michael was absolutely the main character, nearly every episode this season is to show his character development and growth in maturity just to then complete the hero’s journey but the show continued? It’s like completing the story and quests in Assassins Creed and then you keep free roaming.

IMO the michael & pam at the airport scene is the last scene of the show, & it always will be the last scene in my heart...we, who cant stand seasons 8 & 9 are sometimes called "not real office fans, but merely *michael* fans" ...well, the people who say that are mostly netflix era fans who binged the entire series in a month or two...we OG fans watched since early 2005 for 7 long years, & yes, obviously we got attached to michael in all that time...he made season 7 epic & then he was gone, just *poof* , after 7 years, so, the insensitive people who blew thru the series in weeks can eat a bag of D's....our experiences watching the show were *not* the same.....we had to wait all summer for the cliffhangers, we had to wait thru the writers' strike of 2008 for dinner party to air...we experienced it all differently, & those rude peeps cant see that can go to h3ll.
@a-a-rondavis943816 күн бұрын
You're one of those who only likes the original of anything. Nothing can have a sequel and everything "is just not as good as the first one." The Office does have it's ebbs and flows, BUT it shows that the office is viable without Michael and it's still a great show in spurts.
