My Favourite guitar VST has to be the Foundations guitar, because mainly you can add or just use the Texture which adds so much, but I also am a big fan of Ample Guitar. Classic Guitar lite (I have the full version) is really good too. I also have the full version of Haunted Guitar, but haven't yet made a guitar and synth track!! I do want to at some point. A nice spooky electric guitar and synth track would be cool. Another awesome video again, I have most of those VST's too. Thanks and have a great week my friend.

Great line... the shreddage 3 is quite intriguing. I have most of these and I can confirm they are dope sounds. the 8 dio post-apocalyptic is a new one for me though. Will give it a try. Have you also tried the stock FL jazz guitar found in the packs folder... Thats my go-to for afrobeats melodies these days

Halion 7 is great on its own. One of the best free tools out there and once you learn how to download the additional libraries the easier it gets. So many cool instruments in there.

Looking for 12 string instruments. Agree about the Steinberg downloader etc. - so many hoops to get things working. SINE isn't so bad, but that's just my opinion. Thanks for this - some good suggestions anyway. There might be some soundfonts - [not just VSTs] but they would work in a VST player such as Plogue Sforzando or Garritan Aria player - though the audio quality might not be good enough. There are some which sound quite nice if you look around - search for 12 string guitar soundfonts and see what you find. Generally the better VSTs should sound better than soundfonts, but to an extent it depends on the instrument. Guitars may be reasonably tolerant of different formats - other instruments which require more detailed sound and articulation may not be.

So these are all MIDI controlled instruments. What that means is that they are all software based and don’t “affect” a straight audio signal like a guitar pedal would. Depending on what software you are using to make recordings, some can actually turn an audio track into MIDI data, though that’s a pretty complex process and doesn’t necessarily work well with “polyphonic” audio (more than one note at a time) like guitars usually have, so your mileage will vary depending on what DAW you use. If you’re already recording guitars, these kinds of plugins would be best suited for layering on top of your guitar tones, or used as a writing tool, mostly. A cheap MIDI keyboard can help you quickly write in parts for your tracks. If money isn’t tight, you can look into products like the Jamstik, which is a MIDI-enabled guitar that records beautifully as an actual electric guitar, while also capturing MIDI data to control and MIDI enabled plugin. Hope this answers your question and puts you on the right path towards using these kinds of plugins!

another free guitar is MONSTER Guitar and all the MONSTER plugins, what's unique about MONSTER guitar is that you choose triads, fifths 7's and other chord styles on the lower keys and the uper ones plays the notes, Its kind of hard to explain but its unlike any guitar plugin I ever tried.

I have the full version of Kontakt 7 and have 2 of their guitar libraries. (Sunburst Deluxe & Picked Acoustic). I also have Applied Acoustics' GS2 Strum (from the old Sonar days). These fit 99% of what I want to do with guitars. Foundation's free Nylon Guitar is better than the paid versions of nylon guitars from Kontakt and AAS, IMHO. No offense to Kontakt and AAS, their guitar sounds are great, it's just that Foundation's nylon guitar gives me the sound I want.

there's some cool things about library players like preset categorization, the user experience of selecting instruments within libraries and the ease of use from them usually having similar interfaces, etc, but all that is only a plus if you have reason to be invested in that ecosystem, i'm never downloading a player for just a couple instruments. for example steinberg's lofi piano looks fire but i have no interest in that HALscionic platform or whatever the fuck it's called and there's no way i'm going thru the hassle of downloading a whole ass library just for that one piano plugin idc how highly recommended it is.

i feel similarly about plugin managers, they make installing hella plugins at once easier, but it's a hassle to set up and not worth it for 2 or 3 plugins and i rather just find an alternative or be given the choice to grab singular executables in those cases.

I have about 10 players, they are bloody awful cpu hogs. I've started recording all the notes to one midi clip, then converted it to an audio clip, so I can just keep the libraries and scrap all the players eventually
