Nah. The original show that was eventually taken by a company that chopped it up into oblivion, got rid of things we loved about it and just turned it in a badly written, legacy wrecking, cash grab goof fest.... definitely sounds more like the BWBA Era to me.

I will say, the one thing I really like about the 15 minute cut of sunshine is when Ten Cents yells, “Sunshine!” it echoes, and Big Mac hearing the Duchess’s horn from the sandbar

@@kidswonderstories4144in “Sunshine”, during Ten Cent’ night search for Sunshine, he was shouting his name. In the 20 minute cut, it didn’t echo, but in the 15, it did. Same thing for Big Mac being stuck on the sandbar

I was horrified to realize the even with the restored footage, a lot of the scenes with Big Mac and OJ still have their names censored from the Salty Lighthouse edits.

unfortunately mattel doesn't own the rights to tugs...infact nobody knows what company owns the rights to it, it's one big pile of mysterious copyright spaghetti, if anything could come out of the 80th anniversary of the railway series and or the 40th anniversary of the tv series, i hope the US finally gets complete thomas seasons on blu-ray and DVD, hell, since the first 10(?) seasons were done on film (i think season 11 onwards used a digital camera???? could be wrong) maybe we could get 4K blu-rays that rescan the footage and remaster it in ultra HD and with HDR10 and dolby vision, and maybe even new 4K (and in the adventure begins' case, standard, 1080p) blu ray versions of the brenner era movies, maybe even make it possible to select the US or UK dub as different audio tracks, but, this is mattel we're talking about, so....probably not, if i were to be more realistic here, we'd probably just get horrbile, extremely compressed DVD releases that cram every episode onto 1 disc...eugh

If we’ve gotta dvd release of all the 13 Tugs episodes with the footage being digitally remastered like with 4 episodes in the 20 minute cuts and the rest in in the 15 minute cut, then it would be easier to use than just searching all of it in Salty’s Lighthouse

The amount of Big Freeze footage (and footage in general) that wasn't used is astounding considering Salty's Lighthouse had to use only 13 episodes of Tugs to make 40 episodes. You would of thought the crew would of used every last shot from TUGS to use for Salty's Lighthouse considering the amount of Tugs segments they had to make.

I managed to finish watching the entire video in 2-months. This whole edit between the original TUGS and Salty’s Lighthouse feels just as close as watching the entire series in its glorious state of restoration. Too bad SL had to chop up the majority of the series that TUGS had, but what we got would give us hope for a proper TUGS DVD/Blu-Ray release. Thanks so much, The Lucky Tug. This was an excellent effort on your part!

Something to note with the non-Pirate 20 minute footage that's used in Salty's Lighthouse - while not being HD digital transfers of the original footage, they are still better quality than the released VHS tapes. They may have sourced that footage from U-Matic tapes - I think the boost in quality between the two is very clear when you look at something like the briefing scene from Munitions (a scene they use a bunch for footage in Salty's Lighthouse, but isn't from any HD master). Perhaps it could be interesting to compare the U-Matic tape footage in SL to the rips we have of the 20 minute episodes online atm?

This kind of video was an idea I had a while back, wanting to compile all the remastered TUGS footage into a single video but you beat me to it. When I was looking up TUGS content, I came across this video, I saw the thumbnail and I thought, “aww, someone beat me to it.” On further investigation, I saw who uploaded it and I thought, “The Lucky Tug is back!” Anyway, thanks compiling all this footage together, this really helps!

The video does look a bit choppy, probably because the Salty's Lighthouse footage is in NTSC 24fps, while this video is in PAL 25fps.

Wow, that was a fun ride! Hardly surprising, since 'Tugs' is a fun show. With that, I have a few thoughts on this video: --1: Yes, I watched this the whole way through. I know Nic said this wasn't specifically created as entertainment, but I'm not gonna pass up a rewatch of 'Tugs', now am I? --2: It's crazy how much more palatable to the eyes the remasters look over the original footage; aside from obviously being cleaned up and filtered, it's also easier to notice details, like furnishing on all the boats and buildings, individual lumps of coal, etc. Granted, it's probably not fair to judge the visual quality of a show where most footage comes from VHS tapes that are nearly four decades old. --3: I can't help but notice the censorships for OJ's and Big Mac's names whenever it switches between the original and remastered footage. I mean, I get _why_ their names were changed for 'Salty's Lighthouse', but it's still a bit jarring to see them disappearing and reappearing, sometimes even multiple times in the same shot. --4: This, along with the next point, is less to do with the video itself, but of all the times I watched 'Tugs', I never noticed until now how close the Star and Zero piers were to each other. --5: I quite like the episode order chosen for this video, but one change I'd make is putting 'Up River' somewhere in the middle; to me, 'Bigg Freeze' makes more sense as a finale, in how it utilises most of the characters' strengths and weaknesses, and let's face it, the singing from Vienna seals the deal. I don't really have anything else to add, but like I said, this was very fun to watch!

Great to see this channel back with a nice, long video. I have also noticed the significant quality of the footage used in Salty's Lighthouse. I'm not sure why you showed the episode in a different order than what you established was the correct canonical order in your TUGS Analysis video (which has now been surpassed by this video.) I never knew how much footage was never remastered for Salty's Lighthouse.

The first briefing scene with captain zero looks so messy once you realize the footage of the z-stacks has been cut together from multiple different scenes, Knapford Master has a great reconstruction of the original edit as scripted

Salty's lighthouse was technically the first time I heard of TUGS (I was really little when I saw it), but after watching the real deal, it's safe to say it hasn't aged well for me. P.S. I'm pretty sure footage from the 20 minute cut of Regatta was used in SL, especially the scene where Warrior was interacting with Jack.
