I don’t understand why this video got such a bad response
with accusations of players not listening, just jamming
and worse (or maybe I shouldn’t say anything because thanx
to the trolls, the video clip on berklee college IG reels has 366K views!!)
here are a few choice nuggets from the opening part alone…..
0:00 intro riff from “All the Things You are” is introduced
0:09 harmonization of intro riff by double neck guitarist (Me)
0:15 Improvisation on intro riff (dbl neck gtr)
0:18 melody of “Epistrophy” by Thelonius Monk is hinted at
and riffed on (dbl neck)
0:30 melody of Epistrophy re-stated by Les Paul guitarist (my colleague)
0:34 pretty cool instantaneous counterpoint between two guitars
0:36 - 38 nice ascending phrase based on Epistrophy (Les Paul)
0:41 - 47 cool melodic development idea (LP)
0:51 - 53 great call (LP) and response (dbl neck) and more…..
and from here on out there’s a collective guitar counterpoint with more gems passed back and forth….. like at 1:30 descending blues pentatonic idea
1:34 re-stated into a call (les paul)
and response at 1:40 (dbl neck) and other moments:
- micro chord cloud reharmonization on fretless at 1:55 (dbl neck)
- ambient sounds at 2:09
- at 2:21 fretless blues slide (dbl neck) responding to more rocked out sounds (les paul) and so on………..
at 3:26 a different pair of guitarists engage in a jazz conversation in a similar manner and then all guitars chime in from about 5:56 on……overall a nice jam, but don’t trust me, check for yourself. with respect - FuZe
