The Calgary Stampede announced that they expect attendance will set a new record after Sunday's figures are calculated. The final number will be announced Monday.

I've watched a lot of videos from the grounds and it was not busy. Born and raised Calgarian that worked for the Stampede for five different seasons and I can tell you from the size of crowds I've seen, they may have got to a million. Final day of the Chuck's and the infield seating was three-quarters empty.

Yet, you will next run a story about how 25% of Canadians have used a food bank. There is something wrong with the our priorities if people are using social safety nets to visit the Stampede. Also, my experience getting into the Stampede was confusing and the staff rather useless. Don’t have a generation of people who don’t speak to people guiding or helping visitors find their way around. They don’t help. It doesn’t work.

Leftie alert! This is an event which started in 1912 and has been put on annually since 1923. Is it so wrong to have this event which brings together people of all kinds, where all are welcome? Do you complain about the gay pride parade and the cost of that, and equate it to people using the food banks? And you are all are quite the hypocrite. You believe the Stampede is a worthless event and should not be even held because it is "not a priority", but you went to it anyway? And sorry the guides at the Stampede did not wrap you in bubble plastic and personally hold your hand to bring you around, talking in hushed tones all the while so you did not get triggered. Grow up and figure it out. Millions of others who attended did.

So what exactly is it that is so important that is going on that he didn't show up at the most iconic Canadian event? This wasn't about "more important shit going on". This was about pandering and buying voters. He knows he can't buy them in Alberta so he won't go. A REAL leader puts aside their personal opinions and shows up to support and represent the country. But yah, being on stage with a bunch of Indian dancers was really important for this country.
