@thattrickytrickster6122 жыл бұрын
Majority of the comments here empathize with Taylor’s point of view, but I actually relate to the perspective Taylor is addressing in the song. It hurts a lot more personally because my four year relationship with my ex-girlfriend can be summed up in this song. Me and my ex very much did love each other, but I made a mistake that pretty much changed our relationship. I tried my best to make up for it, and she did eventually forgive me. But the pain I caused her was too great, and she left me because she didn’t like herself while being with me. We both hurt each other a lot, but it seems that she moved on from me completely, forgetting me and forgetting why she needed to. Meanwhile, I still have some of things that remind me of her. Like the latter half of the song, I remember all too well what we had. It was very painful and cathartic to hear a song that had the words I believe my ex can relate to, and I’m sure she has cried to this song many times after we broke up. I regret hurting her, and I miss her dearly. Like the lyrics: “Maybe this thing was a masterpiece before you tore it all up”. I hope you’re doing fine, kitty. If you ever read this, I love you. I always will. I wish you nothing but love. I remember it all too well.

I've always had this weird relationship with Taylor Swift's music. She's had one or two singles here and there that I've enjoyed, but for the most part her stuff isn't really my thing. Nevertheless, I've always had a good amount of respect for her because she's managed to spend 15 years conquering the top 40 charts, which is something most pop singers don't do. So I had figured she must be doing something right. I guess that's something is her deep cuts, because oh my God this is good. This unironically has me hyped for the 10-minute version.

"So casually cruel in the name of being honest." This line is what I related to the most. My past relationship was like that. He would always have something to say that would hurt the living hell out of me and his excuse would always be that "I just wanted to tell you everything because I want to be honest with you. I don't wanna hide things from you." At first, I thought it was only right for him to be that way. Where he says things with honesty as he tramples down my self-esteem and lower down my self-worth. As time passed, he gradually changed he wasn't the person I've fallen for anymore and it felt like I was the only one making effort to keep our relationship. I ended things with him. It took me such a long time to try and break up because I really didn't want us to end just like that. After awhile, I learned he was liking some other girl during our relationship, the times where we are having a "rocky situation". Heard alot of unpleasant rumors about him after our breakup. It just kept piling up everydya. So in a sense I was able to dodge a bullet on that one, I guess? I don't know about him but I'm doing better than I thought. I was able to do things that I've always wanted to do. Took a ton of opportunities and enjoyed each and everyone of them. Hopefully I get to truly see past everything that happened and find my inner peace of mind. And to my ex, I'm the one that got away from you. Not the other way around, you ass.

I walked through the door with you The air was cold But something about it felt like home somehow And I left my scarf there at your sister's house And you've still got it in your drawer even now Oh, your sweet disposition And my wide-eyed gaze We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place And I can picture it after all these days And I know it's long gone and that magic's not here no more And I might be okay but I'm not fine at all 'Cause there we are again on that little town street You almost ran the red 'cause you were lookin' over at me Wind in my hair, I was there I remember it all too well Photo album on the counter Your cheeks were turning red You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin sized bed And your mother's telling stories about you on the tee ball team You taught me about your past thinking your future was me And I know it's long gone and there was nothing else I could do And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to 'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light Down the stairs, I was there I remember it all too well, yeah And maybe we got lost in translation Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece Till you tore it all up Running scared, I was there I remember it all too well And you call me up again Just to break me like a promise So casually cruel in the name of being honest I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here 'Cause I remember it all, all, all Too well Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it I'd like to be my old self again But I'm still trying to find it After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone But you keep my old scarf from that very first week 'Cause it reminds you of innocence And it smells like me You can't get rid of it 'Cause you remember it all too well, yeah 'Cause there we are again when I loved you so Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

"You tell me about your past thinking your future was me" This is so painful aaaccck💔 It is so hard to open up to someone ya know. And for most people, telling something about yourself, your life, ypyr past is like giving up a piece of yourself. And when they left, obviously, they took a piece of you.
