I'd argue it's a lesson of self acceptance. Marceline's short time as a human allowed her to realize what her vampiric curse had brought her when the years had finally gone by. If she hadn't had been bit, she may have not found love with PB, or founded such a brotherly bond with Finn and Jake. Yes, the miniseries is voided because of her being bit again, but the lesson still stays, and she grows because of it.
