I think the plastic wrap over the aluminum foil tray is to keep it from germs? I.e. You're supposed to take it off so the hot oils from the food don't dissolve the plastic and wind up in your stomach? Just a friendly observation.㊗️☮️

When their price is very cheap, there will be a lot of customers, so even if the profit is very small, you can still make a lot of profit. At the same time, their purchasing volume is very large, and they can buy raw materials at lower prices. This is a strategy for the Chinese to do business. You're going to see a lot of cheap Chinese products that fit that strategy as well.Although some people think that cheap goods threaten the interests of some people, it does allow more people to buy freely.

@@OhWowInteresting The average one person's monthly wage in China can pay for all living expenses for a family of three, that is plenty of food, housing, utilities, and a car payment. The reason you think the wage is low in China is because you look at its foreign exchange rate to the currency in your country, and you compare its exchanged amount to the average monthly wage in your country, but if you compare the affordability for living in China to that in your country then they are about the same based on the currency and average income amount in that country. If you compare the prices of restaurant meals, groceries, transportations, medical care, higher education, and many other expenses in China to that in your country then you can understand it's all about foreign exchange which the currency in your country exchanges for a lot more of Chinese currency. It's all about foreign exchange, it creates an illusion. Purchasing power of a currency in its own country is what you need to look at.

China has responsibly allocated its resources by lifting over 850 million people out of poverty over the past 40 years. China has been No. 1 in the world measured by purchasing power parity since 2017. This meal is one example of the purchasing power of the RMB.

I cook by myself and buy fresh food from pinduoduo(chinese version TEMU), if you order before 11:00pm, it would be delivered to your home at 11:00am in next day, truck carry foods from field directly, it is very fresh, and the cost, it is about 10yuan(1.5 dollars) per day per person on average, I mean, this price covered everything your need, rice, meat, vegitables, fruits, snacks, milk, bread, drink, and so on. well, if you order in day time, the cost would be even lower 10-15%, the price is dynamic which is controlled by program. so, you can image that, Chiense really dont want that "NO.1"crown, we know how to live a good life.

The govt in China works to make sure food, agriculture, transportation, logistics, infrastructure and govt spending in general is designed to benefit the people. It's not possible to make any profit with this buffet business, that's why no others are doing this, if it can be profitable then the whole China should be full of this kind of buffet restaurants at such low price, but no, there's must be an unknown reason for this buffet business to exist, I suspect there's a lot more to the story.

@@Anonymous------ That bubble tea brand has already opened up hundreds of thousand of shop all over China, and started opening new shops in other Asian countries. As to the buffet shop, profitable doesn't mean making big money. What I meant was the way they work was sustainable for a small restaurant. A small restaurant, like that in China, doesn't make a lot of money in general. The most important thing is to sustain. There is not that much story as you thought.

@@ericliume The problem is that buffet restaurant can't make any profit at all, it's losing money, if it makes profit then the whole China should be full of this kind of cheap buffet. Meats are expensive, 13 RMB can't cover the costs for meat. There's something unknown about this restaurant. The reason bubble tea ships are everywhere in China is because cost to make bubble tea is very little so there's profit. There are some people owning business just to lose money for a certain reason.

I like the policy of forcing patrons to be financially penalized if they don't polish up everything on their plate. Really helps deter food waste from hoarding. Can't say I can get behind the rice and mashed potato combo, though. That's what I picture gruel to look like. Prison food.

Malaysia calls this: economy rice, mixed rice, 经济饭, 菜饭 Meanwhile I’m in America rn. And Chinese buffets are absolutely atrocious when compared to these

That's awesome for $2 a person. It also explained why standard of living is not properly reflected by pure salary level. $500 in China buys a lot more than in the USA. BTW, the Chinese restaurants in Toronto charges more than $1 USD just for an extra small bowl of rice.

The dishes look sooo good omg, craving everything now. What a bountiful spread. The eggplant..!! Maybe the experience (both filming and watching) would be better at an off-peak time haha

I don't think we have buffets any longer post-covid. A local grocery used to have a terrific salad bar and hot food bar, but they have not returned.

It’s so surprisingly shocking that you are based in Changchun in Jilin Province but never ever been to Yanji for food adventure… Yanji is so so well known for food in northern China especially dongbei. Yes it is my hometown as well😊
