In this interview, Allan B. Imes recalls his experiences in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He describes his childhood, early education, and his motivation for joining the Army. He details his training and entry into Vietnam. He reports on conditions there as well as his duties. He describes experiences he had during his three deployments to Vietnam as well as experiences in the United States. He outlines his post-war career and retirement.

This is absolutely the best interview I have seen in this entire series… I was actually based in Khe Sahn from June 1966 to December… I was there when the Marines landed… Everything this gentleman says was accurate and true… I cannot vouch for the chicken… I don’t know what else to say except that I really appreciate his telling!

A very humble man. No chest thumping or self importance . Told his incredible story without putting himself as a hero ( HE IS). He glossed over the awful things he must have witnessed. Many people need to see what a real HERO is to this country NOT these loudmouth OVER paid congressmen. This is a man who did something for this country with little pay and no complaint.

I was out of the Navy about two years and read a article in Life about our advisors while I was in a barbershop and tried to reenlist but I had a set of twin girls and another daughter and was told I would cost to much money to rejoin.

Bet that radioman was damn glad that you were gone,making him walk so he would get pungied in a deep hole before you would.what if you would have lost the radio? Article 15 offense.a Marine wouldn't do that.how did you treat your "yards and your Muongs?,

Old School Special Forces Wow what an interesting guy. I have some books on Leaping Lina and how Special Forces worked under the CIA for cross boarder operations early in the war.

If you would have hung witch doc the chicken would have probably been expelled , and the man would have lived.but then the witch doctor's family would have tried to put a chicken in your stomach. But the Viet's would have loved you for it

The Aussies I knew would have laughed at you for sea sinkness in a good natured way.they probably been sea sick plenty themselves why do you think they had that machine they put you in?
