H20 in its purest form. Injuries did cut his career short, but he gave us Knick fans some amazing years. In this game, he was giving the Lakers the business. It didn't matter who was guarding him. He even torched Kobe a couple times. And I always admired his humility and his faith.

Because the '03 knicks were not good enough to be a great regular season team or make it to the finals. Why would MVP be contingent on being a top 5 mid range shooter? Being MVP is more than being able to shoot. He might end up in the HOF, there are many players in that had worse career numbers than Houston.
@wuliwei6939

The reasons why he didn't get voted to the hall of fame or had his jersey retire:1) Way too inconsistent. He could score 40 one night, and single digit the next game2) Subpar defender. He used to get abused by Michael Jordan and Reggie Miller3) For his height, his rebounding number was atrociousHe was just a one-dimensional player to say the least
@nochey78
@nochey78 6 жыл бұрын
Gary Thompson not a good idea to compare guys who are playing different positions..the criteria for being put in the HOF can be different depending on what position you play Dikembe Mutombo’s offensive numbers aren’t really all that, but his defensive numbers are outstanding.... that’s why he’s in the HOF..plus, good Center’s have always been a bit of a rare commodity. That’s even moreso the case today. As far as Allan Houston goes...his numbers just aren’t good enough...he only has 14,551 career points.... that’s simply not HOF caliber.. But if he had been able to stay healthier late in his career, been a #1 option more often, he might have made it.
@nochey78
@nochey78 6 жыл бұрын
Wu Liwei Dude..... who didn’t get abused by Michael Jordan??? Plus, Reggie miller was as one-dimensional as you can get...he wasn’t much of a rebounder or Defender either... but he’s in the HOF off the strength of the fact that he has over 25,000 career points.

I'll take it a step further. How is it that this generation will refer to the likes of Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, and the Bruce Bowen's of the world as "plumbers" and utterly REFUSE to recognize them as legit talent, when they were competing against MJ in the 90s, yet they deem them as part of these "more advanced/skilled players", when they're busy declaring their era as "superior"? Latrell and Allan came into the league in '93 and '94 respectively. But because they played against MJ, these kids will automatically try to deem them as "inferior". But when they're trying to elevate their era in stature, watch how they'll forget this, and all of sudden include both of them in their list of alleged "superior '00s players" LOL!! This generation is a trip...

@ Michael Wright I certainly have to agree with you! I remember when the Knicks got him! I felt there was hope for a somewhat aging team. Houston has got to be one of the purest shooters in the NBA of all guards.yesterday's today's and even guards of tomorrow! I have been a fan of basketball and the Knicks in particular since 1966!!! So, I have watched a lot of basketball! IMO Houston has got to be the best! And yes.Isaiah ruined the Knicks and Walsh brought them back to revelancy!

So smooth, Allan was the greatest shooter in knocks history. No CAP😂. Injuries cut his carrer short. Would of been a hall of famer.🎉

This dude can jab step and post up like Mike and Kobe and had a more beautiful shooting form than Ray Allen. I so wish Houston didnt get injured.

he was freaky athletic when he played in Detroit. If he played in this era he would of really dropped 25-28 ppg.

Had the Knicks management never broken up that 99 team the Knicks with a healthy Houston and spree on the team they would have won at least 2 titles. Spreewell and Houston where the best one two punch since Jordan and pippen.

Allan Houston didn't make the All Star team that year? That's a shame.

@4:51 Kobe tried to handcheck Houston. If this was today's game, there were two fouls that could have been called.

I wish his knee didn't end his career so short. I would've liked to see him pad his stats for another 2 years or so, probably would've gotten the no. 20 retired if so.... One of the greatest, nicest, pure jump shots in NBA history.... "like water".... the announcer even referenced Houston not making All - Star team that year.... And he had two 50 point games after All - Star break .... at least Eli Manning won 2 titles .... similar men on / off field ....

I used to love how Allan haters (as much as I hate that term, that's what they were) said he was one dimensional like Steve Novak. The guy could score in any number of ways. Playing with Ewing stymied his game. Once Pat retired, we had a decent core to build around with him and Sprewell, but Dolan had it in for Spree and Allan tore up his knee. Shame we didn't get to see him fill it up for 4-5 more years after this (2003).
