Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in plants (and essential oils) that can have anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, neuroprotective and cognitive enhancing effects.
When ingested orally (as in edibles or prescription medications), terpenes exert their influence in the digestive tract and throughout the immune system. --- NOTE: DO NOT INGEST Essential Oils. That can be toxic.
The 120 terpenes found in cannabis may influence the overall effects by either helping cannabinoids to penetrate the blood- brain barrier more easily, by altering liver metabolism of the cannabinoids or by contributing their own therapeutic properties. (Entourage effect)

Thank you for this very informative video. I am looking into alternative treatments for a few different health issues, one Fibromyalgia. I have had several people share the benefits of cannabis use for them. I do not like the smell nor will I smoke it. It is nice to see other options to ingest for optimal health benefits.

Why did my doctor tell me medical cannabis has no interactions with any medications? I do believe they do! I'm having a bad time seems all started with medical cannabis. I use Indica THC in pill form for sleep and my cholesterol is rising now they want me on a statin - NO! ... and I read ...coconut oil in there will raise it. I pointed that out at the dispensary. Also my ALT liver is going up. I think we need more people like you who know more about cannabis when we are on meds and supplements.Thank you - great information!

If its the coconut oil in the pills, that's not enough to raise cholesterol levels. Coconut oil has a high amounts of saturated fats, and saturated fat intake is linked to higher cholesterol levels. But the amounts are just too small to have any effects, you might want to check your overall diet. Are you eating enough fiber, too much animal products with saturated fats (especially dairy; cheese and butter). And its good to remember that animal products include cholesterol, your body produces all the cholesterol it needs.. its uptake is not regulated, so all dietary cholesterol will be assimilated. Fiber will help your body expel excess cholesterol, and fiber comes from plant foods that do not have high amount of saturated fats and no cholesterol at all. Remove processed foods, and limit animal foods. Include whole plant foods like beans, chickpeas, sweet potatoes, whole grains etc. The best way to lower your cholesterol levels is through a healthy diet.

@@Nobody-Nowhere thank you for verifying that, I'm so upset that the doctor should have known that, not me figuring it out. They promote it, they sent me there. Glad I told the pharmacist too at the dispensary she agreed it would up cholesterol. I hope I can reverse it without this statin they want me to take.

@@Cosmogirl014What i was trying to say, is that no.. that small amounts won't affect your cholesterol levels. You can eat around 20grams of saturated fats per day without issues. Unless you are spooning that stuff down. If your cholesterol levels are high, that means they already were quite high even before. Even the levels considered normal are high and unhealthy. Simply because they are the avarave of an overall sick population. Maybe you started eating more junk when you are high.

@@Nobody-Nowhere sorry I misread you, lots of brain fog these days. No I only use it at night to sleep. I've worked out and eaten right all my life, I have never one of those people you speak of, I've always been coined 'a food snob; haa. Cholesterol was always good and trig always very good. So the sudden spike in just one number is related to something as in a medication or faulty thyroid and stress. Thanks for updating me though, it lessened my anxiety over the pills for sleep 👍

I love your channel, but am disappointed to hear that promoting canna. Drugs are very bad, and your videos saying they are “ok” could be triggering and cause people to relapse. You should remove these especially since you are suppose to be an addiction counselor

Her channel is specifically titled: Counseling Education and Online Certification Training for MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS NOT Chemical Dependency Professionals If you need a counselor specifically for chemical dependency then I'm sure you can find one. This channel does not only touch on topics about addiction, there are a plethora of topics to touch base specifically for mental health. If you haven't learned by now, CBD & cannabis has been proven successful and approved within the mental health realm for years.
